I am suprised this one didn't have a thread already. S2 just started and so far it's just as funny and great as the first season. Anyone else watching this?

I feel like all casting directors are in on the joke to hire Gillian Anderson to play Brits so she can use her horrifically bad accent.  For someone who grew up in London, you'd think she could pull one off a bit better than she does.

Thoroughly enjoyed both seasons.

It’s my favorite show currently running.

It’s lush to look at, the acting is superb, Catherine the Great is my favorite historical figure, AND it’s fucking hilarious.

Just finished S1.  I think it's a brilliant show.  So many great characters.

Great pilot. I do think the concept lost a bit of its shine as the season progressed. (Maybe wouldve been better served as a Taika Waititi-esque movie than a series).

Elle Fanning is really …tall?  And cute. And her servant Marial seems fun.

Has the horse made a cameo yet?

All the time.

Huzzah!

Love this show!  Finished Season1 last year and am about to start Season2.

Huzzah!

Surprised this isn’t more popular on here. Consistently funny.

I was through four episodes and got derailed but it was one my all time favorite first impressions of a show ever. Glad I saw this thread - I’m going back in! Huzzah indeed!

S3 out today.

I'm curious if there's any anti-Russian sentiment in the US that will affect how it's received this season?

Anyway, doesn't bother me, I'm still in.

I’m gonna say zilch. Something tells me the target audience of this show can differentiate between historial fiction and current events.

Maybe.  But on the other hand, people are really, really dumb.

On the one hand, Russia can go fight Bob Stoops for breakfast and part of me hates to even support a show that spins them in a bit of positive light (but does it really?). But on the other hand it's a great show that I want to finish and they aren't exactly trying to make us like Russia or anything.

Yeah, it's pretty much anti-Russia in that they are so fucking stupid you can't believe they are able to breathe, let alone scheme.

The Romans, British, Vikings, French, ourselves - All empires/nations/people that have done some fucked up shit at some points in their histories yet have other times that are romanticized and make great historical stories. No reason you can’t do the same with Russian history. And this show isn’t even romanticizing it.

Yeah, my last name is Danish, and I sometimes make jokes about how my ancestors raped and pillaged other folks ancestors, but the reality is that most of my ancestors are scots-irish with a smattering of just about every country in western Europe because most of my family has been here since before the revolution and it is just happenstance that my last name came from a late comer who got here in the 1820's. But those are jokes in poor taste (but still definitely grounded in history) and the reality is that most of the world has grown beyond that instead of embracing it.

i love this show. the interplay between catherine and peter is uh.... great!

but the supporting cast is excellent as well. just the right mix of comedy, satire, sex, and drama. its a really good show.

We started watching the new season.  Perhaps our sense of humor, but this is my favorite show in years.  Just lots of good gags and very dark, Russian humor.

Great series, just finished the final season. Some very unexpected stuff at the end, I didn't know it was the final season, but figured it out.

Question, what's the story with Orlo? He was killed in a weird way and mentioned like once more then completely forgotten. Did the actor have another gig?

I don't really consider that a spoiler since its the first episode.

Bumped this to say I've burned through season 1 incredibly quickly and am through the first couple episodes of the 2nd. This show has me gutteral laughing and it is a treat visually. I had no idea about it until my sister (no pics) rec'd it to me a couple weeks ago. Huzzah!
