Got a cool little something for you all. I acquired some old press photo slides of the 1976 USGP at Watkins Glen and went ahead and scanned them using my DSLR, and the results were fun. These were s

gap to verstappen is growing.  looks like red bull is backing off to go longer as part of tire strategy?

spoke way too soon.  this is an interesting strategy?

Stuck throttle?

Verstappen is going to run away with this title even through Ferrari has largely had the faster car all season. Well done, Ferrari.

Yeah, Max pretty much has to just wait in 2nd until Ferrari fucks up.  8 out of 10 times it will work out in his favor.

At lap 25 Crofty said 25 laps to go and now on 30 he said 20 to go. Is the race 50 or 53?

Sainz is gonna end up wrecking trying to finish on mediums.

I’m surprised that Perez isn’t able to put more pressure on Hamilton

Yeah, yeah. Leave me alone!

Geez, Stroll.  Why don't you just tell the engineer shut up or my dad will fire you?

Williams gon Williams

especially playing with Haas

So obvious, he had no entitlement to that corner. Cmon george

Russell seems like he kind of sucks at wheel to wheel racing. Every time he’s in a close fight it ends up in a collision. Imola last year, he caused the crash at Silverstone, contact with Perez in Austria, and now dives up the inside and would’ve caused a crash if Perez doesn’t back out.

Red Bull with no penalty. I’m shocked!

There’s no way that’s a RB penalty. Perez gad to avoid or Russell would’ve caused a crash.

Le Clerk sounding very French.

Charles saying what I’m thinking. The guy in P1 doesn’t make mistakes. He better get it figured out or he’s just going to be another talented driver.

For what?

Good on CL for owning that. Unlike George whining instead of racing.

He's talented--but still mistake prone--when he has a perfect car. But I'd argue that a large part of talent is making the most out of a imperfect car and still getting points, which he is horrible at. He seems almost guaranteed to find and mentally focus on whatever minor flaw is on the car on any given day.

100 years of "Fuck you, get out of my way!"

This has been Ferrari’s to lose…and they’re going to.

Minor flaws like engines blowing up, throttles getting stuck, and strategy screwing him out of two wins? Those minor flaws?

He needs a sports psychologist. I don’t think Jock Clear is going to cut it.

It seems like eternity since mercedes had a double podium even though those fuckers monopolized it for almost the entire decade
