Got a cool little something for you all. I acquired some old press photo slides of the 1976 USGP at Watkins Glen and went ahead and scanned them using my DSLR, and the results were fun. These were s

Red Bull launch today was just a new title sponsor and livery launch, so a waste of time, really.

Reports are that Oracle is paying $100MM per year for 5 years to be the title sponsor.

Hope so. I've been telling 'em to for at least 10 years.

Looks incredible under studio lights. Hope it’s not really dark on track again.

The DRS flap looks tiny. I wonder if it’ll be that way for all the teams.

In which way? The angle of attack?

Compared to the last few years, that AoA would have been considered a relatively low DF wing, but with most of the DF now coming from the floor, that will probably change.

LOL. I think this will be the case for most of the teams, if not all of them. Everything I've seen so far looks very generic.

haas: here's something we worked up in mspaint
rb: it's only a model

Well, the RB18 wasn’t the RB18 in any sense, since it was literally the Dallara show car painted with a Red Bull livery.

The Aston is their actual car.

Oracle as the title sponsor makes me think that COTA is going to be safe for a while.

As long as the Gov is willing to keep footing the bill for the F1 snactioning and the track is raceable, there will be a GP at COTA. The day that stops (IF it stops), F1 will drop COTA like a hot potaato. Bobby ain't gonna pay it.

Sure, it's their actual car. I'm just saying they're likely holding back a whole lot, just like everyone else probably will.

Also look how high the AM’s front wing is. That’s gonna take some getting used to.

The rear wing is a bigger thing to get used to. I don't mind them not hugging the track with the nose, it's a bit high but might be really important for runoffs on aggregate. But that rear wing just looks funky.

The higher front wing should help at COTA.  It was a cheese grater because of the bumps.

Well they are now very low, so they can get floor damage!

They're going to throw off more sparks than a car driving on its' rims.

Oh McLaren... so much promise but that livery is ugly. Way too busy.

I rank it so far:

AM
RB
HAAS
.
.
.
MCL

I think the matte orange looks off. Might have been cool 10 years ago but not now.

#448

I don’t hate the new livery from McLaren, it’s just meh. It looks like they tried to mix the gulf baby blue with the blue from last year.

#449

McLaren is my team, and I couldn't be more underwhelmed.  It's not terrible standing still, but I think it will be pretty bad on the move.

#450

I like it, but I'm a McLaren fanboy.  At least they went with something different, unlike Haas or RBR.  Aston looks great, though.
