Fra-Gi-Le... It must be Italian!

Some men are Baptists, others Catholics, my father was an Oldsmobile man.

My father worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay.

In the heat of battle, my father wove a tapestry of obsenity that as far as we know, is still hanging in space over Lake Michigan.

Probably the GOAT Christmas film.

The closing shot with the Old Man and Mother Parker drinking wine is perfect.

This year it's seem to come into vogue to say it's the most overrated Christmas movie. I don't think so at all but heard several people in media throwing it around when never heard that before

Schwartz created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat.

What is the name of the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse?

Victor. His name is Victor.

How the hell did you know that?

Everybody knows that.

Not a popular opinion, but I just don't like this movie that much.

I just shot my eye out I'm sure.

Only one thing in the world could’ve dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window.

There are more dumb motherfuckers who have no business in “media,” offering dumbass opinions now, too. Direct correlation.

You look like a deranged Easter bunny. He does, too; he looks like a pink nightmare.

I could go for some Ovaltine myself, anyone else?

Daughter walked out of her room and saw we were watching it, covered her ears and screamed “we can’t watch it until the morning.” Teenagers.

FIL tries to watch it every year to humor me and he clearly doesn’t get it at all. Kind of sad really.

Maybe one day it will click for him. Mind power, Swede, mind power.

Near perfectly written movie. It might be perfectly written actually.

Fun/weird fact: a Christmas Story’s director Bob Clark also directed another “iconic” Christmas movie….albeit on the other end of the Christmas spectrum: 1974’s Black Christmas, which was one of the earliest American slasher films.

Also, my family watches A Christmas Story while eating Pei Wei every Christmas Eve. How original, eh?

Ca..Careful... Whelp...They run all over.

Sounds just like something my dad would say.

I'm on the part where they're changing the tire. Gotta say, massive dick move by the dad. I only have a teenage girl in the house but if I had a boy, or hell if the girl had said fuck like that at his age, no way I tell the wife and get her all worked up. I just tell him/her we're gonna talk about it later. Some things a dad just has to do himself.

The thing you don't understand is for all his bluster, Dad is a softie. No way he could dole out punishment to Ralphie, so he pawns the job off on Mom.

just turned on the 1am showing...never gets old ❤

Scott Farkus, what a rotten name.

If you’re in Austin today and want to get out of the house with the kids.   Head to 32nd & Lafayette Street, house at the NW corner.

The old man would tear up, it’s so beautiful.

Watching the 9 am showing this morning.  Merry Christmas!

Sounds like a MAJOR attraction.

The dad looking like a kid again when Ralphie unwraps the rifle is the part that resonates with me now as a parent. Such massive joy for a man beaten down the entire movie.

It was one of the best scenes in the movie, right as Ralphie had resigned himself to the fact that he wasn’t getting the Christmas present of his dreams, and was putting on a good face about it.

Ahhh but it’s not Scott. It’s Scut

I always wondered if script writer had the name Scut Farkus first and casting found this God forsaken ugly ginger kid that matched the name perfectly, or if they had another name but once they found this kid they said nah he's a Scut Farkus

Similar behind the scenes question when ralphie gets absolutely destroyed by the snowball walking home. Did somebody on set actually throw that? It was so damn perfect and seemingly dangerous.

In our world you were either a bully, a toadie, or one of the nameless rabble of victims.

Just now seeing this thread, but posted in the old one that I watched it with my 6 year old this year and was the first time she's watched it.  She loved it and wants to watch it every year now.

  • 9 months later...

Can't believe it's already coming up on this time of year again.

This has been a yearly tradition in my home since '86.

I still love every minute of it.
