I'm not a lawyer, but it would probably help Lindell's case if he were to shit his pants in the courtroom.

Tell her not to get too close. She might catch the stupid.

Lindell's lawyers: "this trial is about whether Mike Lindell believed his statements were true at the time he made them. it doesn't have to be true but he has to believe at the time he made them that they were true."

frick-all-that-steve-buscemi.gif.eadb1cbbcd6ac992bfc22351394da4ad.gif

so if you are barely sane and just believe whatever imaginary bullshit is being spewed you get a pass for saying whatever you want? what a crock of shit 🙄

Who knows? That used to be a losing argument, if I understood BT correctly. Now, I guess you have to check in with the information booth first thing in the morning to know today’s lawyerscope.

In oldlaw, which is still mostly viable for the present, for non-public figures, belief was irrelevant.  For public-figure defamation, knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for truth is required.  So, belief can be relevant, but only if it is a well-founded belief.

Fox and Murdoch having to pay almost $1 billion because their accusations of election fraud were false would seem to indicate that any similar statements - made after that $$ settlement disclosure - is evidence of malice

When Mike Lindell loses this trial, our fight for election integrity will go out the window. He never had the evidence he said he had. This makes us look like idiots. How did he allow this to happen??? He was warned about Dennis Montgomery wanting to harm President Trump and he…

If you need some cheering up, I highly recommend doing a twitter search on Mike Lindell.   The quotes from this testimony, chef kiss, the copium from MAGATs, hysterical.

This thread is LONG, covers Lindell’s testimony, it’s absolutely hysterical.  Holy shit

Coomer Attorney: did you see the clip of Dr. Coomer in that film? Lindell: I saw it for the first time here in court.Coomer Attorney: That was my question. You didn’t watch your own movie? Lindell: I just missed that little part, I did watch my own movie, sir.

I figured there were some qanon people that took his grift as gospel, but was he also part of the magat mainstream?

That defense may work for a statement like “the election was rigged” but it can’t for “I have evidence that the election was rigged” when you don’t have evidence.  You can’t genuinely believe you have evidence that you know you don’t have.

otherwise I could email a blank pdf to briskettexan with the document title photographicproofthattrumpdiddledkids.pdf and as long as he doesn’t actually open the document, he can say he has proof that Trump had sec with kids and believe it.

Keep in mind that this is Eric Coomer as the plaintiff, not Dominion, generally.  So many of the statements at issue pertained directly to Coomer rather than broad "election rigging."  But I suppose they get into all of it

NEW: MyPillowGuy Mike Lindell found liable for defamation for his statements about Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer. Federal jury orders Lindell to pay $2.3M, far less than the $62.7M requested by Coomer’s attorneys.

I think the jury had a rational basis for thinking he was just crazy as fuck and a sad loon who could not temper himself because - loon - instead of being inherently evil and malicious.

Maybe letting the nut job reveal his nut job -ness was part of the defense strategy. That is not a bad result for him.

Just put it on the pile that he has no money to pay for.

I’m sure when Donnie hears about this it will be hard to keep him from writing a big check to cover it all.

No fucking way.  He only does favors that don't cost him anything (like pardons).  Zero chance he's stroking a check.

We don’t think he’s already written that loon off as someone who no longer has any value to him? Like Giuliani?

This. Once the billionaires got in bed with Trump, he no longer had any use for low level millionaires.

Just found out from my wife that one of her friends' son was on the jury for this trial.  Said the reason the award was so low is there was one holdout that wanted to let him off scott free. Almost resulted in a hung jury but the judge told them to keep going.  That was the most he would agree to.  Everyone else wanted much higher damages (not that any will ever be paid).
