March 9, 20223 yr Sofia Kenin with the wildcard against a pretty in-form doubles specialist Haddad Maua from Brazil. She needs to win a match. She hasn't won jack squat in a long time. Hailey Baptiste also with the wild card. She's probably still pissed about the chair umpire in Mexico calling a double bounce when she got to the ball in plenty of time (6" or more) and I think would have won the point on her hit. I would be furious, because it's not challengeable. That makes no fucking sense. Some event tonight according to the ads. (I forgot that it was Tuesday here for a bit.)
March 9, 20223 yr Author $150K to the winner of this Tiebreak Tens, Amanda v. Sakkari. That’s almost 5X the Mexico 250 pay.
March 9, 20223 yr Author Helluva Tuesday night paycheck for Miss AA. She may have replaced Krejcikova just to be in.
March 9, 20223 yr And she's donating a portion of the winnings to the Ukrainian fund. Sweet lady Edited March 9, 20223 yr by perfectchaos007
March 9, 20223 yr It's gotta be weird for Anisimova, the American born baby of a Russian family. (Parents + older sister born in Russia.) They got out when you could and now they can watch the shit show that's happening. (Kenin is probably also feeling awkward, but she wasn't in this event.) Nice of her to donate some of her winnings. I'm guessing that there's an uneasiness in the locker room this week when Russian, Belarusian, or Russian-born Kazakstanis (?) are around. (Even Anisimova & Kenin.) Not sure what to say or not say, who may have family affected. And that doesn't even touch on Yastremska having spent two nights in a parking garage avoiding bombs and who is in town, likely with her 15 year-old sister in tow, not sure if she'll ever see her parents again. Then there are the many Russian-born men as well as all of those with Russian parents (and thus, relatives in Russia). Four seeded men's players are Russian, one (Bublik) is Russian but plays for Kazakstan, a Russian-born "Kazakstani" is in the opening match on Court 3 today (Wednesday), but the Men's Tour doesn't have the Ukrainian representation that the WTA has.
March 9, 20223 yr Author Shitty part of IW is you’re fucking stuck with TC’s choice if you don’t subscribe to their +. My reliable stream site has been down recently, will have to find an alternative.
March 10, 20223 yr Author Dayana wins the second set breaker @ 8 to force a decider against Garcia. Woz is commentating.
March 10, 20223 yr Author Alright, petition to keep Caro & Lindsay in the booth together permanently.

There’s nothing that she can do other than just freak out and watch the news & social media 24/7 if she doesn’t have matches to focus on. I think that winning help her compartmentalize and limited the time she could allow herself to focus on the war.
March 11, 20223 yr Sloane vs Naomi has started. TURN IT ON QUICKLY ! …because this match isn’t going to last long with Naomi standing 5 feet inside the baseline on Sloane’s 2nd serve. It is very windy on their court.
March 11, 20223 yr 6 minutes ago, shadow_operative2.0 said: Quite the kit on Naomi. She is taking up Serena’s mantel of sausage stuffed into a ridiculous casing*. As soon as I posted, Sloane broke back & held, so we may have a match here. Pulling for Sloane today. *FULL DISCLOSURE: Naomi has a long way to go to look like a Serena the last 5-10 years, but she does have a build that could pick on 20+ lbs over a 3 week window. March 11, 20223 yr Amanda Anisimova has taken the court with full mascara (or fake lashes and a very jiggly uppercourt game tonight. 👀 Though somewhat cloaked by a black cloth top, the camera is zooming to a shot that crop just below her shoulder tops so as not to distract the viewer. Not unlike cropping Elvis shots to above the waist when he would wiggle on the Ed Sullivan show.
March 11, 20223 yr Author Breadsticks to bookend the match. And Tauson over Haddad Maia in straights.
March 12, 20223 yr Author Dayana apparently has a 15-year old sister, they’re playing doubles. Begu/Niculescu are only -3333 favorites.
March 12, 20223 yr First 9 games of the match: Mugu: 9 / Riske: 0 Remaining 13 games of the match: Mugu: 1 / Riske: 12 That is so funny, I am sorry that I missed it. Re: Mini Yastremska She played doubles with Dayana in Lyon on a wildcard as well. They lost in the first round. It is nice of the WTA to support these girls. Wonder where they will base themselves after the CA/FL 🇺🇸 swing. Edited March 12, 20223 yr by Napoleon
March 12, 20223 yr Watching Tennis Channel now and that Dart 🇬🇧 girl just hit a redirected shot up the line off of Svitolina’s crosscourt return that was reminiscent of the shorts that Raducanu repeatedly smoked in last year’s US Open.
March 12, 20223 yr Author Free stream of the Yastremska sisters currently. https://tennischannel.com/watchnow/free
March 12, 20223 yr Author Korda trying to serve Rafa out, interesting scoreline so far. 2-6, 6-1, 5-4
March 12, 20223 yr Korda was up a double break in the 3rd, and it looks like he's going to lose the match now. This is about to be the 3rd match in a month where he was serving for it and lost

March 13, 20223 yr Author Amanda was serving for it @ 5-4, 40-0 against Leylah, 5 of the nastiest misses you’ll ever see get us level. Cahill told her earlier this week that he couldn’t continue as her coach.

Amanda totally cratering....again edit: Layla bagel'd Amanda in the tiebreak 7-0 Edited March 13, 20223 yr by perfectchaos007
March 13, 20223 yr Author The rare bagel breaker & a decider, of course. This could be a boatrace by Leylah now, who the hell knows.
March 13, 20223 yr Author She literally just fucking quit, the chair even tried to talk her out of it. That’s a damn first.
