Sarcasm, bud.

Though NMH is a relatively prestigious boarding school that invests in its basketball program, he could be from anywhere.

4-star PG Rowan Brumbaugh commits to Texas

Quote

Rowan Brumbaugh, a 6-foot-4 point guard out of Northfield (Mass.) Mount Hermon has committed to Texas basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Brumbaugh is the Longhorns’ third commitment to the class. He joins top-25 prospects Arterio Morris and Dillon Mitchell.

Originally committed to Northwestern, Rowan Brumbaugh backed off his pledge to the Wildcats on Monday.

Texas was one of the schools involved in Brumbaugh’s recruitment prior to committing to Northwestern. He also previously considered Miami, Kansas, Maryland, Oregon, amongst others.

Why Texas?

“I just really want to play at the highest level and be around that type of basketball culture and grind…their history of player development. It’s just everything I’m about. Also, just hearing more about it from the players and getting their perspective and their take, it’s just everything I’ve ever wanted. It’s just straight basketball, nothing else. It’s just something I’ve dreamed about. Everything is perfect for me.”

Brumbaugh has not yet tripped to Austin to see the Longhorns but says a visit is currently in the works. His father, however, used to live in Austin and Rowan says “he raves about how cool it is”.

The future Longhorn also spoke highly of his future head coach, Chris Beard, in a previous interview with On3.

“I like Chris Beard a lot,” Brumbaugh said. “He’s about everything I’m about… winning and just getting the job done and being tough. He’s just a basketball junkie. He has a chip on his shoulder like me. He’s done a lot with his guards at Texas Tech, and now he’s at Texas. That’s an awesome program, too.”

Brumbaugh is the No. 81 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 15 point guard and the No. 2 player in Massachusetts.

Scouting Report on Brumbaugh

On3’s Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton had this to say about Rowan Brumbaugh:

“The 6-3 and change point guard has the ball on a string. He makes the correct play a very high percentage of the time. Has the knack and athletic ability to get to the paint and rim off the bounce. Will knock down the open three. Converse at the foul line. His offensive game will go to the next level when he becomes more consistent shooting the three off the dribble. Displayed the ability at NBPA Top100 Camp to recover and make plays defensively. Competes on both ends of the floor. High-level basketball IQ, and a true gym rat.”

@texifornia is my go-to guy for the lowdown on fancy east coast private schools

Did not realize that Rowan had a teammate already on the team.

Like a coach on the court?

Anyone have other highlights of him? In the one clip off the 247 profile he looks white.

Hook'em Rowan.

Yeah he's a kid I wondered about after Beard took the job, because he originally committed under Smart as a preferred walkon with potential to eventually get a scholi. Glad he still came. His high school highlights looked like he had good potential to turn into something worthwhile.

From my minimal internet research his last name means little sweep. So appears we will win several national championships with him.

CAn he shoot the rock? I want a pg that pushes the tempo and can pull up in transition and hit the three.
