6th Circle of Hell: Amtrak passengers stuck onboard for almost 40 hours

Featured Replies

Look at the bright side - think of all that quality time spent with trainiacs!

Would you rather be stuck on an Amtrak train for 40 hours or stuck in your car on I-95 for 30 hours?

Snow and freezing temps sure can fuck the South.

Last year it was icepocalypse for us. This winter is transportpocalyse in Virginia.

This is just the headline of the moment. They close roads in Virginia for snow all the time. I got stuck outside of Fort Chiswell on I-81 for 24 hours in the mid-80's.

Seems like trees on the tracks is something they should be able to resolve in less than 40 hours.

seems like there was only one thing to do to keep warm….

No food, toilets backed up, no cell or wifi, freezing temps. Brutal.

The no food thing is a mixed blessing. They got rid of the real dining car on the Crescent a year or two ago. Now the meals are glorified TV dinners nuked up in the club car, and they are hit or miss.
