Picked to finish 3rd in conference, but it's a tight preseason race

Baylor got 3 first place votes and 23 points
TCU got 2 votes and 21 points
Texas got 1 vote and 19 points

Unfortunately we're going to play a pissed off #1 Florida team on Sunday. TCU upset them today 4-3. Good news is they played indoors @TCU and our match against them is scheduled outdoors. It can be tough going from an indoor venue to an outdoor venue and vice versa.

We looked pretty good yesterday. Ciamarra was great in doubles, not so much in singles. Opposite for Bailly. Definitely need Spizziri in singles tomorrow

What’s the deal with Elliot? Also Micah lost a 3rd set tie break to someone from UTSA??? Makes me nervous

Elliot is playing #1 singles today. Also won his doubles match

Rallied down from 3-5 to take a 6-5 lead at #3 doubles but lost 7-6 and the doubles point

Riffice just stole that break from Spizz with the "wide" call on the line. Path to 4 points is still there, but shrinking

Scoreboard operator was wrong, looks like the chair ump overruled. I need to get used to college tennis again, service breaks are a dime a dozen

Aaaand that'll do it. Need a lot more out of 5 and 6. Was Spizirri injured recently? hopefully he's going to improve some with more matches? Ciamarra is an auto point at 4 singles.

Florida wins 4-3. Doubles point will decide most top 10 matchups and today was no exception. Our line 3 doubles team is now 0-2 with a loss to UTSA in there…

Arizona clinched the match already 4-0. Looks like they’ll finish the other 3 on court, but either way we got our asses kicked today

Well we may not be good

Aside from Peyton Holden, we didn't lose any production from last years team. Last year's impressive 24-6 record was a bit misleading however, because we were an incredible 10-1 in matches decided by the score of 4-3. If that were flipped, last year we would have finished with a .500 record of (15-15).

This season, we are currently 0-2 in matches decided by a 4-3 score. Law of averages may be biting us this time around.

There were 2 players on our 2021 roster last season that transferred, and we will play against both of them this season. Leighton Allen transferred to OKST, and plays line 4 or 5 singles for the Pokes. Jacob Bullard transferred to ASU, and he plays line 4 or 5 for them. We'll play ASU tomorrow.

What a response by our guys to beat ASU today to sweep singles after dropping the doubles point. We HAVE to improve/make changes in doubles though, because our line 3 doubles team is now 0-4. Siem Woldeab got a straight sets victory over last years teammate Jacob Bullard.

4-0 win over Columbia today, without Elliott Spizziri for undisclosed reasons. OKST and Oregon are still playing, but we'll play the winner of them

May not be appropriate for this thread,  but some may have interest.   ABC interviewed Michael Center this week and DMN previously published an article.    Center seems to be seeking publicity to throw shade to The University.

Per articles,  he received 100K,  gave 40K to LHF and kept 60K, but blames the review process.   Sad,  feel bad for his family.

(excerpts)

In a 4,200-word story in Sports Illustrated, Center recounts the fundraising pressure that led him to accept a $100,000 bribe, his six-month sentence in federal prison where he was under suicide watch and his questions about why the punishment at Texas stopped with him. He said he still suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the investigation.

In the SI story, Center disputed the internal Texas report compiled under former President Greg Fenves and released in September 2019.

“There’s no college coach in America — much less at a state school, much less a coach of a nonrevenue sport— who can admit an athlete without consulting other people in the athletic department,” Center told SI. “What they were asking people to believe, it’s just impossible.”

“I was no rogue actor, and this wasn’t my word against their word,” Center told SI. “There were signatures that went along with it. That’s the system. ... There wasn’t one point in the process where I thought people wanted to learn the whole truth.”

Baylor killed us

Spizzirri played line 2 singles against Rice today. He didn't look close to 100%, but he still won his match in 3 sets. Texas def. Rice 7-0

It’s the mens turn to get a crack at the ITA indoors. Our opener is against Florida, who already beat us at home last month. If we lose to them, hopefully we can win our 2 consolation matches. We Need Spizzirri to get back into line #1 shape

Hey we won doubles!

Spizzirri didn’t play doubles but he is in the singles lineup at line 4. Hopefully he can continue to get his strength and confidence back

Big win!!

The all important doubles point made the difference. I don’t have official statistics but teams that win the doubles point must win 80%+ of matches

Nice to clinch by beating the #2 ranked player

Well you said only 80% if you win doubles. Womp
