March 10, 20223 yr Really needed a good road win. Texas was flirting with the .500 rule and the schedule does not get any easier.

I thought that .500 requirement was scrapped after what happened @ Arkansas a few years back? Anyways, the final score today was Texas winning 4-3 over aggy.

Anyways, the final score today was Texas winning 4-3 over aggy. My understanding was that the .500 requirement was temporarily waived for the 2021 season. This was due to teams having limited traveling capabilities for a full non conference schedule. I have not seen the requirement waived for this season yet (last year I believe it was waived mid season). From what I've heard a lot of the Power 5 coaches want that requirement to be removed.
March 12, 20223 yr Ohio State takes the doubles point after we served for the match 5-3, Ohio State ran off 4 straight games in the deciding doubles point match. oof
March 12, 20223 yr Texas comeback falls short. Ohio State wins 4-3. Coach Burke needs to get on the phone with Prairie View A&M for a double header so we don't miss the tournament with an under .500 record
March 16, 20223 yr Holy shit what a comeback as Texas def. USC 4-3! With the overall match score tied at 3-3, Chih Chi broke his opponents serve late in the 3rd set to get a chance to serve for the match. At 30-0, Chih Chi's opponent becomes so overwhelmed with nerves, that he blows chunks all over the court. For health and safety purposes, the conclusion of the match was moved 2 courts over. Chih Chi won 2 of the next 3 points to win the match. If you read the recap on texassports.com, I doubt they mention the vomit episode so here's your exclusive surly certified content! This was a MUCH needed win for Texas!! Edited March 16, 20223 yr by perfectchaos007
March 18, 20223 yr Solid 5-2 win over Pepperdine. Our hopes of hosting a regional would have dashed if we lost today. Next up is a non conference home match against OU. Not a fan of playing non conference matches against conference foes but thats what it is

Pretty sure that doubleheader was not there earlier in the season.

You’re correct UTRGV was not on the schedule. I’m glad Bruce got on the phone to get it scheduled so the .500 rule won’t come into play.

April 4, 20223 yr Those were our final home matches of the season unless we host a regional. Gotta take care of business against the Oklahoma schools and then hope TCU doesn’t murder us too bad. It’s sad watching Spizzirri’s decline this year. He was really struggling against the UTRGV opponent

He was really struggling against the UTRGV opponent Really lucky to have him in the lineup at all; he can only slice on his backhand due to his left wrist injury. The fact that he has won the last 7 of his completed matches (after starting 2-4) with only half his shots shows how good of a player he is
April 9, 20223 yr TCU beat us 4-1. Gotta try to close out the season with wins against the okie schools Edited April 9, 20223 yr by perfectchaos007
April 10, 20223 yr Yeah I'm not sure why he wasn't in the lineup today, but I'm assuming its injury related. @Aleemay would probably know

April 14, 20223 yr Texas v OU is on the Ballys southwest sports network right now if you want something to watch before softball. Texas lost the first 7 games in doubles but came back to win the doubles point. Micah Braswell is back at line #1 today
April 22, 20223 yr 4-0 Sweep over OKST in the quarterfinals. We'll play Baylor tomorrow in the semi's. Braswell didn't play today which doesn't bode well for our chances at an upset tomorrow.
April 24, 20223 yr Baylor beat us 4-2 in the semis. We'll probably still host a reginal in the NCAA's, but we need Braswell healthy to have any shot at making a run.
May 3, 20223 yr I think this is the first year where the S16 will take place at the higher seed's home. Unfortunately that probably means we would play @ #5 Michigan at their indoor facility which I don't see us having much of a chance of winning there.
May 6, 20223 yr Texas def. Idaho 4-0. No Micah still which is concerning. We’ll play against LSU tomorrow in the 2nd round

May 7, 20223 yr Michigan will be the heavy favorites against us in the S16. That’s Burques former team he head coached for years
May 7, 20223 yr Michigan played today outdoors. So weather permitting, this should not be an indoor match.
May 9, 20223 yr Author No. 12 Men’s Tennis advances to NCAA Round of 16 The Longhorns completed a sweep of the Austin Regional with a 4-0 win over No. 34 LSU on Saturday.
May 14, 20223 yr Michigan def. Texas 4-2 in the round of 16. Texas played a full-strength lineup today with Spizzirri and Braswell both playing singles, but the team going a combined 0-4 in tiebreak sets including a crucial set that decided the doubles points doomed the Horns. Also, Michigan was able to close out the match indoors thanks to a thunderstorm in the area.
May 14, 20223 yr With the S16 round being held at the higher seed's site now, we're going to see fewer upsets. All seeds 1-8 advanced to the elite 8 this year. 100% chalk.
