January 10, 20223 yr From the pattern it seems to me that their windshield wiper fluid has some kind of chemical treatment, like a RainX sort of thing, and when they use that at speed it makes those branching paths up the windshield due to the wind. That would then leave chemical residue from the RainX more heavily in those portions of the windshield. Water then reacts differently with those areas, so the ice builds up differently, giving the result in the photo. That's my guess.
