Jerry hired Parcells because he had no choice. He was trying to get financing for AT&T Stadium, and after firing Johnson, he'd run with puppets Switzer, Gailey and Campo. They'd been 5-11 for thre

Lmfso gregory just signed with broncos. Wtf is going on

Apparently he changed his mind regarding the Cowboys.

Everyone has unlimited funds. Dallas is signing dudes found in line at home depot

Denver dispensaries won him over

Hate losing the upside, don't mind losing the risk factor. Get Dorance signed quickly so they have a half-way decent body before the can draft somebody.

We went from let’s draft Tyron’s replacement to we need WR. DEnd and Tyrone replacement lol.  This is Charlie strong level wtf mode

Adam Sphincter does it again. At least he totally nailed the Brady retirement.

With Gregory and Williams gone, at least that fixes about 90% of our pentalties from last season.

Same type deal supposedly. Was reported there was language in the Cowboys contract that Randy didn't like.

Yeah it was don’t smoke weed

Gregory signed with the Cowboys, but he lined up offsides so it was negated.

Looking at the last several 1st round draft picks:

2015    27     Byron Jones
2016    4       Ezekiel Elliott
2017    28    Taco Charlton
2018    19    Leighton Vander Esch
2019    27    No pick (own first round pick traded to Oakland Raiders)

2020    17    CeeDee Lamb
2021    19    Micah Parsons

It's the Cowboys way of things. We create holes because of our own stupidity and how inept we are at roster management. WR was not even close to a need before this offseason. We made it one. So now instead of paying a proven guy like Amari, which we can easily do, we trade him for peanuts and now we need a WR high in the draft. This is why we can never build a good core. We keep spinning our wheels by these types of moves and we never move forward. We just keep drafting because of how bad we are at roster management.

I don't blame Randy for leaving. Dealing with the hillbilly Jones family and knowing you will never win shit can cause you to change your mind. How many former players speak out about how toxic it was here compared to where they went?

By what metric?  He's been top 5 in pass rush win rate and QB pressures since he signed that contract.  Pressures create turnovers.  Know more about football.

Also Tank, unlike a lot of edge rushers, is excellent in run defense and keeping the edge. Gregory on the other hand is pure dogshit against the run.

It is a myth of how great we are at drafting. And how good Will MClay is. 2015-2019 we got one player worth a damn and he fell off a cliff fast. Picking Taco over TJ Watt? Lmao. LVE was a huge injury risk and of course, we wanted that blue light special.

And now, we have absolutely nothing to show for giving up a 1st rd pick in 2018 for Amari. He was here less than what we could have used that 1st rd pick.

And don't stop at 1st rd picks. Go look at 2nd round picks. Those are terribad as well.

This team has zero idea how to build a roster. Even in a god awful shit ass division, we have not made the playoffs back to back years since 2006-07. That means your roster is extremely flawed.

Jarvis Landry going to be too much money?

Everyone is too much money. We offer low ball offers to pass off as trying but knowing they will reject it and throw up our hands and be like oh well. And go onto signing guys working customer service at Lowe's.

We are fascinated in signing our own even though our own has never won anything and think every free agent is too overpriced.

Cooper wasn’t playing to his contract and it was a cheap date to unload him. We’ll see if Baker can make use of him. The front office has done better than most at the draft and managing free agency; it’s the coaches who’ve done little with the talent.

I am glad Randy Gregory is gone. I am sure his contract had some kind of language dictating he stay off the pipe. Looks like Denver matched the deal, maybe with a bit more guaranteed. Another Jerry reclamation project off the books. Good. Should have happened long ago. All AFC teams have to do is run straight at him and he’s done.

Gregory to Denver...

I miss the days where we would just go get whoever we want whenever we wanted.

Those days were before a real salary cap. Easy to get the best players when you offer to pay more than anyone else.

This is truly hilarious. Normally, you'd pull this crap when you're not sold on the player and don't mind if they go somewhere else. But since this is the cowboys, they probably really wanted him and just fucked it up.

Dolphins signed LG Connor Williams, formerly of the Cowboys, to a two-year, $14 million contract.  7.5 guaranteed.

Denver contract may be same deal without contract restriction language ??

This smells like Stephen. Fuck Stephen and every other person in that organization with the last name Jones.

100%. They got cute at the end. And Gregory got tired of dealing with the hillbilly circus and he told them to fuck off. Good for him. Get out of that toxic environment Jerry and now Stephen have created.

I wouldn't have agreed to any deal with Gregory without some kind of out-clause, so I'd say it's a good thing. Strong and deep draft for edge rushers that will be cheap for 4 years.

Who the Hell knows -- maybe the Cowboys end up better off without Gregory.

At least the 2022 NFL Draft has a decent number of good edge rushers...

Edit:  (looks like @DougO and I had similar thoughts 😋)

rumors flying of a Von miller deal

That doesn't make any sense. If others were offering $4 to $5 mil more then when he bailed on the deal it wouldn't be to a team offering the exact same money as the Cowboys. That tweet is just agent bullshit they're being fed.

5 for 70 with 28 guaranteed was basically a two for 28 and honestly too much for an 11 out of 17 game 6 sacks guy who gets vacated in run fits. I'd rather take a fraction of that and give it to Wagner to shore up the LB spot and give Parsons the ability to spin down across Lawrence when needed.

Cowboys(mainly Stephen) has botched this entire off season.

Gonna take a lot to get it back on track.  I suspect they'll have the usual "bargain basement" rebound with the 3rd round of FA's that actually help them...and of course draft pretty well.  But man they are so bad at early FA's.

FUCK Randy Gregory.

There is no loyalty in the NFL but c'mon, the Cowboys could have cut him a dozen times over.

He got way more loyalty from Jerry than any other team would have given him.

And I use the term "loyalty" loosely.

100%. They got cute at the end. And Gregory got tired of dealing with the hillbilly circus and he told them to fuck off. Good for him. Get out of that toxic environment Jerry and now Stephen have created.

What is this toxic environment you’ve imagined? Players love Jerry. They respect the family. They have the best facilities in the league with amazing benefits. Why are their FAs disappointed when they aren’t retained? Why don’t all of them leave since according to you we underpay? Gallup should have left right? Why did Tank reup? Why did Gregory plan to stay when he was being paid over market instead of heading out? You’re talking stupid.

NFL careers and especially primes of players are so short don't really blame them for taking the biggest bag of $.

Stephen Jones screwing up the Gregory deal over something other than money is just classic though.

this sounds like a cover story on both sides, but really who cares.  Gregory isn't a make or break player at this point, and he's always one minute from being suspended.

If this is true, than ol Randy just wanted the legal weed
11.thumb.png.9634f8bab672ed4aae87df11f5e25b10.png

If I’m not mistaken that clause is standard boilerplate for every league contract.

I’m glad Gregory is gone. Never played an entire season. Terrible against the the run. Loves the weed too much. Bring in Von Miller.

too fucking funny.  Randy Gregory "I'm just here cause I'll likely get fined"

Gregory wanted out of Dallas,. and yes, good luck Denver.  weed is legal though so bonus for him.

Yeah, I would have rather resigned Von, TBH.
