I Figured Washington and Texas would be the last teams standing in the regional, but I expected Texas would have to win twice on Sunday to advance. Fortunately it’s the other way around.

This team did a wonderful job at setting records for futility, especially defensively at times, so it’s truly up for the task of need to lose twice today to break hearts.

Gotta think Dolcini, who went twice against OU (3 hits, 3 runs and then 2 hits, 2 runs) and OSU (3 runs, 6 hits in 9 and then 2 hits, 2 runs) is up for the task of going up against UW again today.

If anything, she had better outings her second time. See how she follows up 3 hits and 2 runs

On the other side of the ball, UW fifth-year senior pitcher Gabbie Plain will likely be in line to toss back-to-back games, just as she did against Michigan last season.

Excerpt above from UW campus paper.    UW pitched Nelson, their #2 vs Lehigh.  Leaves them Lynch who stated game 1 vs Lehigh.   Having to pitch Plain in game 1 for 2.2 innings/47 pitches set UW back.    They have to go with Plain in at least game 1 today.   .

How will MW counter ?    Time of year when heroes are made.

Ala/Stanford,  UK/Va Tech now underway.  #6 Ala and #3 Va Tech have to win twice.   Championship softball - best time of year.

Gotta be Dolcini. Ride the ace.

I’d keep the same lineup but replace Whitaker with LB

Agree,  I really like Cimusz at 1B,   bases loaded double with 3 rbi's yesterday.

Great win for Stanford and Jessica Allister.    She can coach softball.    Sad ending for Montana Fouts' great career.

@Js1   Was Alana Vawter a Connie commit,  so she decomitted  ?    Shutout Bama with 4 hits.

Yep. Committed to Texas as a sophomore. The previous Stanford staff said no thanks to taking a pitcher in her class - it was her dream school apparently.  She decommitted after Clark retired and someone turned her attention back to Stanford with their coaching change to Allister

Listed as a Senior,  Covid year  ?

Fun little fact - Jessie Allister was Catherine’s catcher in travel ball and was behind the plate when they K’d 11 Olympians in 5 innings on the Central Park to Sydney tour! Catherine was going into her senior year at CSHS and Jessie was at Stanford. Jessie called the pitches. The Cruisers lost 1-0, after the other pitcher was put in for the final two innings.

Thanks for sharing that great story.

Stanford is back with her as coach !   She communicates well and players show tremendous respect for her for good reason.

Well, Tennessee is eliminated,  SEC overrated as per usual

Cool, Stanford gets to host. Probably helps the TV schedule if there’s 2 west coach supers (UCLA/Stanford) and 1 mountain (ASU)

Would be insane. FSU is a horse to actually hang with OU
