TCM has a new podcast series, The Plot Thickens: Here Comes Pam, about Pam Grier.

That could be fun. Gonna check it out on their youtube channel soon.

Two of the first 3 that they did were outstanding,

Peter Bogdonavich and Lucy.

I did not really care for the other one about Bonfire of the Vanities but only listened to a couple of those episodes.

Good POW double feature following The Bridge Over River Kwai.

I still need to pick up the Lucy one. I sort of faded out after the first two parts.

The Bonfire one was a dumpster fire, at least as long as I could hang with it.

Worst part of the Pam one is they will not be showing boobs.

Salute to the Day that will live in infamy

Air Force

Thirty Seconds over Tokyo

They Were Expendable (my favorite WWII Pacific Theater Surface Warfare movie)

I finally got around to starting on the TCM Pam Grier podcast thing on their youtube channel last night. Ended up burning through the first three eiposides, some 2-plus hours. Good listening so far.

It's funny timing since Jennifer Lawrence just got some flack about proclaiming herself the first female action hero in movies. One of the first things from the podcast recorded months ago was that Pam Grier was the first female action hero in Hollywood history.

A childhood favorite playing now,  The Valley of Gwangi.

Local Hero is on tomorrow at 7 pm. Knox Oyel and Gaaas. I’m a firm believer that it will hold up.

Dennis Quaid Right Stuff Ending

One of my all time favorite movies. The first 30 minutes is outstanding. Highly recommend Yeager's autobiography.

TCM is running the Crosby & Hope "Road" pictures back to back Monday.

I recorded "Judgement at Nuremberg" last week and finally finished it today. My God what a great film with a fantastic cast. As I get older the Spencer Tracy of "Bad Day at Black Rock" and Nuremberg are quite possibly my favorite acting.

A great movie but it fails to mention the afterward. Politics got back in the way once the big cheeses were convicted and Truman’s antiSemitic State Dept started delaying further trials, eventually thousands were released.

The Story of GI Joe

Officer and a Gentleman is good, but it's not even in the same league.

Gran Prix starting. May well be the greatest racing movie ever, filmed in Cinerama at speed.

It’s international night for tcm.

—The Girls. Late 60s movie with Swedish actresses.

—Purple Noon - French version of Tom Ripley.

—The Vanuahing - the French original.

—in the Mood for Love. - Hong Kong steamy romance

—ikiru - Kurosawa on redeeming your soul.

Just realized that 3 of these were original that were redone by Hollywood or British studio so that means that he other two must have had remakes

In the Mood for Love… one of the most gorgeously framed and shot movie in my opinion, beautiful story too

Man I actually saw a movie on TCM earlier this week that I had never seen before.

The Beginning Or The End.

It is about the development of the bomb and everything surrounding it.

The cast was spectacular and seemed to have every character actor from the 40’s in it.

Not historically accurate but close. Evidently the scientific community was heavily involved in production and there were many re-writes.

Recommended.

Not sure where to put this, but this seems right. Was hanging with the old man recently, and we watched Paint Your Wagon. Holy shit, this movie is so funny. Has nothing to do with Clint or it being a "musical."

Lee Marvin is incredible, and the writing is next level.

I enjoyed the new TCM podcast on Cleopatra. Hearing Ben Mankiewicz reflect on his uncle Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s experience with the film was enlightening. It opened the door to broader reflections—on Mankiewicz’s career, the Hollywood epic as a genre, and the paradox of a film remembered as much for its making as for its content.
