Treaty Oak,

The San Antonio area is coming for you (Westlake). Brennan’s QB is electric and his little brother is the main WR.

I’ve been officiating them since they were in Jr. High/sub-varsity - just saying.

Thanks so much for doing what you do. If someone is going to take down down Westlake, this is the year.

It was fun knowing you, LT football prowess. Now go get your shinebox

(also a new school in a district getting its own full size stadium is an offensive/stupid waste of money)

Two schools and two respective stadiums?

Color me unimpressed with the bullshit.

It hasn't been voted on yet so not so fast....and if you don't pay LTISD taxes why would they care what your opinion is on the subject? All the Lewisville ISD schools have on campus stadiums, is that offensive?

That's what we do in this state.  Moose out front should've told you.

I never asked anyone to care about my opinion. And yes, that’s a very stupid waste of money. If they ever want me to care about their robin hood money complaints I’ll have a very hard time finding sympathy, especially now. In the valley every multi-school district shares a stadium. Same story in SA, except for the totally well-functioning & high performing Southwest ISD. It saves millions and the schools/players/parents deal with it fine.

agreed. its completely stupid and waste of money. mark me down as a No.

Bosco @ Allen this weekend.  I'll watch that.  Bosco by 2 TDs.

It’s game week!!! Let’s get the games going and hopefully Mother Nature doesn’t rain on our parade. Good luck to all of those that are involved: players, coaches, cheer, band, spirit squad, parents, teachers/admin working the games, referees and etc. A lot of people have time “vested” into this opportunity for all involved.

Here’s a GOOD LUCK to 2022! Enjoy it while you can, because it’ll be over sooner than you think it will, especially for the Senior Class of ‘22/23.

Don't think so, to much talent in the 'burbs. Not to mention the facilities war going on between the powerhouses and more affluent districts.

Great freaking movie,  I'd be ashamed to admit to how many times I've watched it, or how many times I've read the book.

Looks like LT wants to avoid what some other suburban ISD's get from  their detractors inside their districts  thinking they favor a certain high school (see Katy High) and give each school their own showcase stadium.  Upside is now most ISD's have to put it on the ballot as a separate issue unless they can find a direct academic use to the facility in question.  Big mistake if the LT voters are still ticked about property evaluations and election day comes a week or two after tax statements start hitting the mail.  There were several bonds that crashed and burned in May across the state because property evaluations were the topic then.

I used to read the book every year, at the end of August.

John Walsh? Never would’ve guessed

Separate news: Alamo Heights has apparently suspended a large chunk of the varsity team for 2 games, after a hazing incident led to a player going to the ER for burn injuries.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any less promising, I see this abomination. Opening-game record of HS teams featured on a DCTF Special Commemorative Edition: 0-13. Average margin of loss: 46 points.

Hah, I had a buddy who played for Alamo Heights. Good dude, went to USAFA, would have participated in hazing but only as a team building activity.

Not sure how true this is, but my nephew who is a senior at a different San Antonio HS sent me this tweet. This is the story going around.

They must be getting into Blue Mountain State.

Remind me about why John Walsh has bad history ?

Trouble in LT land. QB1 not playing week 1 against Martin. Some speculation that he is injured and other that he was benched. He hasn't practiced all week so I lean towards injured.

DWI and rumored affair with a vice principal, I think. John Campbell at edinburg Vela has the exact same resume, but can confirm the affair part.

Of all the fucking games to play. Always with the funny shit.

I received no hazing nor administered  any.  2 different high school programs.  We just straight up did Oklahoma drills and shit, regardless of class during spring practice, especially because no true freshmen were on campus for football at that point.  Being that incoming sophomore sucked ass.  Oh well.  Get tough or quit.

It floors me that hazing  occurs at all these days- and they risk it with bitchass stuff.

Edited by slorch

A local school here in PA had its entire season cancelled yesterday because hazing. They originally saw videos of 4 or 5 kids shoving bar bells or something in the assholes of what I think are freshmen but turns out it was nearly every player doing it to the others. The kids are likely going to be charged for multiple counts, sexual assault. It’s awful.

That time of the year again gents!

Let's try to organize the good games list by different parts of the state:

Jeez, there is so much great football in DFW

Lake Travis-Arlington Martin @ Rangers' old stadium (I am NOT calling it Choctaw Field)  This is tonight and will be on ESPNU.

Melissa@Argyle   Melissa shocked the Eagles with a shutout last season; both have been bumped up to 5A now.

Texarkana-Frisco Lone Star @ Jerryworld

Grandview @ Glen Rose  GR shocked Grandview by 30 last season, one of the first indications that their program is approaching state title contender status

St. John Bosco @ Allen  Huge test for the Eagles and new coach Wiginton, as SJB is ranked #1 in the nation

Duncanville-SOC  Best game of the week in the state...Panthers have won this game 3 years in a row...Saturday night on ESPN2

College Station-Lovejoy @ Allen -- Saturday... CS lost a lot from their 2021 state finalist team, so don't be shocked by a Lovejoy blowout

East Texas

Timpson @ Beckville  Two of the best 2A teams in the state

Gilmer @ Tyler Chapel Hill  Two top 5 teams in 4A... Gilmer has to replace their do-it-all QB

Kilgore @ Carthage  One of the best rivalries in the state

Brock vs Tex Pleasant Grove @ Greenville  3A vs 4A... Brock's playing a crazy schedule, as they follow this one up with Wimberley in Waco next week.

Malakoff @ West Rusk  Two ranked 3A teams battle

Coastal Bend

G-P @ Calallen  Tonight!  G-P has shown some signs of getting their program back to glory... Calallen will be taking the field without Danaher for the first time since Texas became a state.

Cuero @ El Campo  The Gobblers have a lot back, but lost their coach... Ruben Owens' senior year will be the do-or-die year for the Ricebirds after banging on the door the last couple of years

Edna @ East Bernard  EB is a traditional power, but look for the bigger Edna to win this and make real noise this season

Central

Lorena @ China Spring  3A @ 4A matchup...Lorena ran off 14 straight wins after CS beat them in 2021.  CS returns almost everyone from their state champ team except the QB, but they successfully recruited Wimberley's QB who threw for 2500 yards as a soph, so they'll be fine.

New Braunfels vs Ryan @ UMHB  Oddest matchup in the state this week.  Ryan lost a lot from last season, but they'll still win easily.

Houston

The Woodlands @ North Shore  Tonight!

Manvel @ Shadow Creek

Dickinson @ Atascocita  Two programs that manage to be really good and still underachieve IMO.  Lots of athletes will be on display.

CE King @ Crosby  Cougars have won R4 twice in a row...Derek Fitzhenry has turned King into one of the best programs in Houston.

Austin area

SA Wagner @ Liberty Hill  Game should last about 2 hours as neither team will pass it

Dripping Springs @ Vandegriff  Vipers are probably favored, but Drip's QB will be the best player on the field

Ridge Point @ Westlake  Will be interesting to see RP in life without Bert Emmanuel Jr, same for Westlake without Todd Dodge

San Antonio

Just go to the Dome on Saturday: Smithson Valley-Reagan @ 11:30, Judson-Johnson @ 3, and Brennan-Steele @ 7:30

West Texas

Permian @ Abilene  Have to have something from the former Little SWC, even though these programs have been pretty mediocre for a while

Jim Ned @ Hawley   3A @ 2A  Hawley came out of nowhere to make it to state last year and returns a lot of talent, but Jim Ned is always good and will have more bodies.

Sweetwater @ Idalou   4A @ 3A

Childress @ Abernathy  Childress had a great 2021 until the playoffs started, but then they lost in round 1 in probably the biggest upset in all the playoffs; Abernathy went 12-2 and lost in region finals for the 3rd time in 4 years last season.

Helobious Special!!

Bird Bowl!  Harlingen South-Harlingen  Last year, South won this game for the first time in over a decade, but they've dropped to 5A now, so this is not a district game.

Edited by Beau Vine

South was carried last year by a really talented senior class that had mostly played together since TYFA. They’re gone now though and the hawks are fucked.

The first 2022 Helobious Poll does drop tonight btw. Exclusive here first before ESPN picks it up.

Yeah, nttawwt (when it’s consensual) but I never got the male sport team/frat fascination with guy’s assholes.

He was also found at Winstar, intoxicated, in the middle of a school day. More than once.

Woodlands V North Shore on tv tonight in Houston. Let’s go Highlanders.

During two a days in summer we would pull in the freshmen into the varsity locker room and make them run through the locker room in the pitch black while everyone swung at them with loaded pillowcases. There were cleats in there and all kinds of other not soft things in with the pillows. It never went too far, but we did bloody a nose once. I am sure that would have gotten outed if it happened today.
