One of my favorite Longhorns of all time. A bad mother fucker that hit above his weight class.

I hope some day we'll hire Billy Pittman to be our wide receiver coach.  He had a knack for getting wide open like he did on that play.

Great as Phil Dawson was, I don't think I've ever been more pleasantly surprised at a play than that. Back before the stadium expansion, wind was a big deal.  That kick was more like a 60 yarder.

I was there and that play was amazing. You’re right...I had forgotten about the wind being such a factor during games. I do remember on those blazing hot September day games in particular (& following too much early day drinking) walking up to the highest seats just to hang my head over the side and catch some of that breeze.

I remember watching that game with my UT buddy.  Hearing Dave Barnett's voice brings the nostalgia.

I was there, too.  Parents Weekend my senior year.  I think it was my dad's first Longhorns game, and he's been a season ticket holder every year since.  We were seated right at the 10 yard line toward the uprights where the winning kick sailed through.  It seemed like the ball hung in the air for a good 10 seconds, and even at it's peak I wasn't sure it had the distance.

Rue the day?  Who talks like that?
