I’m surprised we are in the top 10. We don’t have near the commitment that A&M does and haven’t for at least a decade.

I think that's a generous ranking

Texas is always going to be somewhat limited by space considerations. Aggies can just go out to the back 40, tear down a mule shed, and build the 28 million dollar Gomer T. Justice football player massage parlor in its place.

Here's a thought: we build our players a ranch out in the Hill Country.  We fly them in via helicopter to school/practice every day.  The ranch accomodations are cleaned by licensed massage therapist coeds....

There is no reason in Hell that Texas should not be continually in the top 5 in this ranking.

Other than the fact that spending tens of millions on player facilities is a stupid investment now that you can funnel tens of millions to recruits instead.

The facilities arms race is what economists call "non-price competition" that results from price ceilings.  Now that price ceilings have been removed with NIL legislation, there's no reason for non-price competition.

Your argument makes a lot of sense, the only hook i see right now tho is that kids can still get a fat bag on NSD1 and transfer 8 months later. They’ve got to figure something better than a wink and a hand shake when you’re giving 400k to a kid who’s never played a snap for you. Hell, for 400k i probably would’ve considered aggy too. Probably…

If that’s the case then it’s a 1 year problem that just passed, and we recruit from/into the portal going forward and still get the best 2-3 years of a player.

It seems like the portal is going to become a humongous part of the game, even more so than many of us estimated.
