May 25, 20187 yr Danny Boyle to direct. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-44250056 Was hoping for Chris Nolan but I am not disappointed with Boyle.
May 25, 20187 yr Let Nolan have it when they go to a new Bond actor. Sometimes I think it'd be cool to take the series back to the 1960's. But I understand there are cons to that.
May 25, 20187 yr Because doing that with Star Trek was so good?I want Dennis Villaneve (sp).Spectre sucked through the middle, and at the end. But the stumbled onto something good for a bit:An ensemble doing spy stuff. The secondary characters are played by good actors. Need to revisit that concept.
May 25, 20187 yr Author Denis Villeneuve - he's my favorite director, but his Bond would be Mendes on steroids. Not sure it would work so well. Agree that the concept of Spectre was pretty good but the plot was shit.
May 25, 20187 yr Regardless, it’s great they’re using “distinct” directors. Mendes and now Boyle each have a way that you immediately recognize. It keeps the brand from getting stale.Let Boyle do this one, then let Nolan reboot with a new Bond.
May 27, 20187 yr Just trying to imagine what a chris nolan 007 movie would be like hurts my soul. The modern bond flicks are already dour and joyless enough thx
May 27, 20187 yr I think Danny Boyle is a smart choice. I've struggled with Christopher Nolan's films. I think he's a brilliant director but he might be too brainy for Bond. I wonder if Boyle will bring in A. R. Rahman to write the music. Spectre was a disappointment and so it needs something to get it back on track that Skyfall seemed to pull together. The whole Blofeld back story in Spectre was poorly conceived, the idea that he was responsible for the villians and events in the last 3 movies just didn't connect for me. Blofeld never came across evil enough, or devious enough, to really pull off what he said he did. Javier Bardem would have made a better Blofeld. Now that guy was evil in Skyfall. May 27, 20187 yr OF course, we may be at a time where we can use Industrial Light and Magic to do what they did with Rogue One. Bring back Sean Connery in his 30's to play Bond again.

May 29, 20187 yr I’m ready for Idris Elba as Bond with some badass writers and directors. But I’m down with one last Craig ride.

May 31, 20187 yr I'm watching Spectre now on FX and don't get the hate. No, it's not Casino Royale, but likely no Bond will ever be that good again. It's basically just the old-school outrageous Bond formula filmed in modern times. It's still, like all the Daniel Craig films, better than every Bond that came before. Sean Connery wishes he made Spectre. If you think otherwise, maybe it's been too long since you've seen "You Only Live Twice."
May 31, 20187 yr Replace the train and Austin Powers-esque desert lair scenes and it's a great movie.

Stupid. And for sure, Spectre is on another level in terms of tone, acting, and visuals compared to Diamonds Are Forever or something like that. But compared to the best of the series like Skyfall or From Russia With Love, Spectre falls way short of the mark. Edited May 31, 20187 yr by crackamacgowski

But, then again, I put Casino Royale (1) and Skyfall (3) in my top four of all of the Bond movies. From Russia with Love (2) and Dr. No (4) fill in the gaps of the upper echelon of the series for me (and those rankings for 2 and 4 might be a bit interchangeable since Dr. No used to be my #1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a likely #5 Everyone else's darling, Goldfinger, gets knocked down to the #6 spot for me because I can't get past Kentucky as a locale after Austria (I don't care if that's where Ft. Knox is located). You Only Live Twice is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. I recognize that it's ridiculous, but I still love it. It's probably not the #7 spot, but it's close. Plus, it's the basis for Dr. Evil, Fu-Q and Fu-Qme. So there's that. Edited June 1, 20187 yr by dcbc

Lazenby and the movie are both underrated.

August 22, 20187 yr Great film, in my top 3 Bond flicks. Gets so much hate because it wasn't Connery.

OHMSS was always my favorite Bond flick, 1 and 1a along with From Russia With Love. Story-driven films, more than just gadgets and special effects.

And the first Batman with Micheal Keaton hasn't been matched.
