When did biweekly start? What did it used to be?

It use to be monthly.

My Dad use to be paid that way and his company had to switch (I think legally required), and he was complaining that now twice a month he and my Mom worried about how much money you had versus once a month.  His co-worker responded “You told your wife?”

Gotcha. I never thought to ask growing up, we were going to stay poor whatever the pay period was

First job, the majority of the shop guys would get live checks, then a check cashing truck would come by at break.  I asked one of them and he said so the old lady doesn't know how much overtime they had worked and how much money he had.

Going from private sector to working for the state back in the day, it was biweekly to getting paid on the 1st, once a month.  It was a hard pill to swallow the first month, but after that, no big deal.  Then returning back to the private sector, it was the 1st and 15th paychecks.

Can attest.

in construction, all my employees wanted physical checks so their American girl friend / wife didn’t spend all their money…. So they could send enough money back to their Mexican wife.

I guess I just don’t get it.  looks like a good enough sandwich.  I guess I’d eat it?  that’s “what I’d do”.

first time I read this I thought it was talking about eating your date’s grape cluster.  like going full feedbag on a bulging hemorrhoid.  needless to say I was pretty aroused.
