The book is outstanding and horrifying all at the same time.

excellent, i learned how prominent the mormons were in settling the west from this book.

Is it just me or did Garfield become an A-lister like overnight?

Yeah, like 10 years ago

Social network put him on the map but I’d say being Spider-man gets you A-list status.

I'm currently reading the book. Looking forward to this.

Anyone see the first two episodes? Pretty solid

It’s also creepy as fuck

Really good book.

I just watched the first episode, pretty good so far.  That big family bbq scene was weird as fuck...the dad and all the brothers gawking at the new girlfriend, the oversharing by the Scottish wife, and that creepy Culkin being there also.

The way they're using the husband to relate historical info about the LDS church is a bit stilted. You're in a police station in the interrogation room with blood on your clothes and the cops obviously suspect you of killing your wife and kid and all you want to talk about is church history?

Also, I saw the Rockies in the background of what was supposed to be Ohio. Maybe the plains are significantly flatter than I thought? Anyway, I hate geography fails in movies and TV. It's like every 1950's western where Texas has both Saguaro cacti and Monument Valley.

Still, some good scenes and I'll keep watching.

The book is excellent. I plan on starting the series this week.

Tobey Maguire or Tom Holland would have been a better choice for the lead detective, but I am enjoying the series so far.

Read the book a million years ago. I am liking the series so far - was pissed off last night when I realized there were only two Rosie’ episodes.

not just you.  garfield and adam driver are both on my list of “why is this guy in every movie now, did Hollywood run out of actors or something” list

I’m not sure why Garfield signed up for a Hulu show to star alongside Rainwater. It’s an interesting show, but the cast is a bunch of nobodies.

I guess he liked the book. He has no ties to the LDS.

I’m not sure what you guys are on about with Garfield - he hasn’t been on tv (not counting ru paul/snl) in a decade and his filmography looks like this -

Tick Tick Boom is supposed to be good but it’s a Netflix movie about a musical. Spider Man is Spider Man but (and I haven’t seen it) that was more like a cameo, right? Doing a limited dramatic TV series based on a Krakauer book seems about right.

Garfield has been killing it. Tick Tick Boom is about the Rent guy Jonathan Larson and it’s way better than I expected. He was great in the Tammy Faye thing as well. Agree that he’s not prolific, but I like what he’s done.

always a ranch in Monument valley.  A ranch without animals or water.

Started this last night. These people crazy, it also led down an LDS rabbit hole for a bit last night.  I need to read the book

I remember enjoying the book... but don't remember much. Think I'll read it again before I watch the dramatization.

3rd episode was pretty good.  Creepy Culken continues to be creepy.

I really enjoyed the book when I read it years ago but the series is not grabbing me.

Same. So slow.

It’s not really grabbing me either. Hope it gets better

Wyatt Russell is good in this...so smarmy and creepy.

That said, Garfield is a terrific actor.

Agree. Even when I find grievance with a specific movie, he is aces at whatever character he portrays.

Still with it, still creepy. Even more so because there are people like that out there right now. Pace seems to be picking up with the latest episode.

(If you're drawn to the murdered wife check out Normal People on Hulu. She's naked a lot after the first episode.)
