Day 1 scores:

Scheffler 67

Ghim 71

Chervony 74

Soosman 76

Jones 81, 81 is pathetic golf at this level.

Scheffler started his day on 10 today with a triple bogey 7. Team is T20th right now, most of team is on inward 9 with only Ghim making the turn.

You know that Jones’ 81 isn’t included, right? It’s the best 4 scores that count.

Did not and glad to learn that only top 4. Team is T25th out of 30 with a few holes to go.

Ghim closed with a 30 on the back 9 to shoot a 69, T7th at the moment in the individual.

Scottie closed with 2 birds for a 74 after a tough start, T10th with the afternoon flight out on the course.

Team is currently T14th with half the field still on the course. Does not look good right now.

Scottie and Ghim are in a good position for the individual title.

Edit. Everyone plays today. Top 15 advance to tomorrow.

We still don't have the top shelf depth to win this thing.

Yep. You have Scotty and Doug then 3 also rans. Even though Jones is the 5th chair, you’d hope he could contribute something. Worst round each day.

Ghim and Scottie are fighting really hard to remain in top 5 of individual.

Team is on cut line with half the field to go, lets hope all teams this afternoon go over par which is likely.

We’ll play tomorrow. Currently tied fo 11th. Only 3 shots out of 8th place needed to make it to match play.

We just need our 3,4 & 5 players to find jesus over the next few days. They are currently T111, T122 & T147 out of 156 players.

Tee times are in the afternoon, likely for TV as GC is broadcasting today. We have some work to do but it can be done.

We're 3 shots back in 10th place, top 8 move on after today.

Big move today so far. Moved up 4 spots to a tie for 6th with Kent State and aggy. Gonna be tight. OU and Bama are 2 shots behind.

Our men are batling their asses off so far, pretty clean cards in what seems like the tougher 9.

We’re  the only team under par today

OU and Bama are back in the top 8.

This is gonna be tight.

Jones was finally making a contribution, shooting even par on his 1st 9. Double, triple to start his back 9.

So much crap that Ghim and Sheffler are killing it and the others all can’t even put in semi decent rounds.

Yeah we may have 2 top 5 finishers and still fail to make the cut. Talk about a top heavy lineup.

A birdie by Doug or Scottie on 18 and I think we’ll make it. Don’t want to play OSU in 1st round of match play.

Edit. There it is!

Feels like if we advance we are much more dangerous in match play than stroke play.

For starters, Ghim and Scheffler are capable of getting us 2 wins in every round of match play. Also, match play favors us in the sense we wouldn't have to rely on our other 3 golfers. We would just need one of those 3 to have a decent round. Under the assumption Ghim and Scheffler keep rolling.

I think match play gives us a much better chance of winning than stroke play. Probably stating the obvious here.

Good job boys. Best team score for the day. Need to slip into the 7th spot and play Duke instead of OSU.

Bama just dropped behind us. Aggy seems to be finishing weak. Huge finish by our two studs. This team has a high ceiling, I doubt other coaches want our matchup tomorrow.

Looks like we might avoid OK State in round 1 of match play too. Need Alabama to stay below us.

Yep. And/or aggy to drop below us. They’re leaking oil.

Yeah, we're probably the weakest team remaining in terms of stroke play outside of Duke. With Scheffler and Ghim we're really dangerous in match play.

I don't follow golf close enough but I think Soosman is pretty good for our 3rd golfer.

Our biggest issue has been Jones.

aggy is really trying to choke this away. Good god how do they always choke like this in every sport?

aggy survives but will get Oklahoma State in round 1. We get a favorable draw with Duke.

Edited by texasstrong12

I'm pretty sure we avoid OK State and Oklahoma until the final round of match play. We can't ask for a better draw.

Texas vs Duke. Then winner of Tech and Alabama.

Just back and pumped to see the results, great draw for us IMO.

It's pretty crazy to think that in 2012, when Spieth and company beat Justin Thomas and company for the national title, the matches weren't televised on the Golf Channel.  We had to stream it from NCAA.com.

And oh yeah, Thomas Pieters from U of Illinois won the individual NCAA tourney that year.  Patrick Cantlay finished tied for fourth.

Thomas is world #1, Spieth is world #5 (former #1), Cantlay is world #36, Dylan Frittelli is world #58, and Pieters is world #67.  not too shabby.

Good luck tomorrow guys, hope to see y'all in the semis of match play.

Wow, tech’s Ramirez down 2 after 2 already after brilliant day yesterday. Long way to go obviously.

All the the horns are off and running now. As are bama and tech.

Soosman have it back on 4. All square now and chevrony gives up a hole on 2 to go down one.
