Marc Murphy is a good dude who just makes bad decisions in competition.

Is it just me, or does Marc Murphy remind anyone else of Colin Quinn?

MM has a narrow lane (French-Italian) and is really good when he is able to stay inside of it.  Hand him some hot peppers and he's clueless.

You are correct. He hates any kind of heat on chopped as a judge. And cannot cook with chilies of any type.

His best cooking is on Guys Ranch Kitchen where it’s very relaxed and it’s not competition.

Man that is quite the Final 4

Jet
Antonia
Britt
Maneet

Is Jet going to buck the odds and be the first man to win?

I knew Mei Lin was done with that kabob

Im hoping someone other than Maneet wins

Britt did a lot of work in 40 minutes.  Kudos to her - she earned that one (rather than just being good enough while an opponent Fs up).

When Mei Lin said I’m going for charred over smoky I told my wife she just fucked up.

I thought Britt certainly hammered her dish I really wanted Amanda in there. She is a huge person but really is graceful in her cooking. Does so much in a short time.

Mahneet nearly lost it on the pressure cooker.

I think the winner of Antonia-Jet will be the ultimate winner. Really really would be disappointed to see Maneet win another one.

The only reason she has one is because Brooke broke her hollandaise sauce.

I want either Jet or Britt to win.  No offense to Antonia, but I'm pulling for those 2.  I like Maneet, but want a new champ.

I’m just not into maneet.  Talented yes.  Seems very self absorbed and plays to the camera

Jet is my clear favorite.  Seems like a genuinely good guy.

I ate at her joint in Nashville a few years ago. It was the best Indian “inspired” food I ever had. Great service.

Antonia knows how to run a joint as well.

This. Or Antonia.

Ugh. Whatever

I’ve eaten at Le Bernadin in Philly, Michael Mina’s place in Vegas, and Micheal white’s due Mari in Jersey.

The randomizer for the finale needs to get rid of equipment and change it to cuisine.  So that some people can't just default to the only cuisine they ever seem to cook in competition.

Edited by Js1

I hated that result for Antonia. Fucking cacao pods. Luau leaves. Name root. You can have different ingredients without getting stupid. The equipment this is silly.

I’d rather the final four be more cooking like iron chef. One or two ingredients or things and make three dishes.

Food Network is really all in on her

Final battle hit on one of my pet peeves wrt cooking competitions.

Spoiler

No one should be preparing a crudo or tartare or salad as a dish in a cooking competition.  It's a cop out IMO.  Cook something.

Disagree.   Fucking maneet made a meatball.  Gmab.  Seems like this show is rigged almost.

wrong person won.

also in the semis I knew Britt was done when she used beer as her base.  That doesn’t fly with those haughty judges

back to the final, I knew manheet was gonna win when the judges said they couldn’t taste the cacao in Antonia’s dish and when guy said it was a tie in plating and taste

meatball and sloppy joe.  Please

Agree. We just are supposed to believe a deep fried meatball is “high end royalty food” in India? According to who, Maneet?

Season VI qualifiers February 16, season starts March 2. Prior winners now Judges, with a shuffle/addition of correspondents.

Spoiler

Tiffani Faison joins Justin Warner as TOC sideline reporter to deliver real-time play-by-play as the action unfolds in front of a live audience. Hunter Fieri follows the action backstage, interviewing the winning chefs for their reactions to the competition, while Simon Majumdar takes on a new role as the Judges’ Correspondent, getting the judges’ takes on why a dish won or lost.

Double winner of Season II and V Maneet Chauhan, Season IV champion Mei Lin, and inaugural TOC champion Brooke Williamson will join judges Scott Conant, Cat Cora, Susan Feniger, Alex Guarnaschelli, Mary Sue Milliken, Charlie Palmer, Wolfgang Puck, Marcus Samuelsson, Nancy Silverton, Martha Stewart, Michael Symon, Ming Tsai, Jonathan Waxman and Andrew Zimmern.

I like the winners now judges. And not surprised on Simon, guessing the brain tumor treatment makes it hard for him to chase chef’s around the kitchen and do all the work.

And thank god no Luetke - sore loser

Hunter doing half the commentary for the qualifiers is....a choice.  Surprised he and Justin Warner split the winners last week - 2 for each.  He just doesn't describe the food and techniques like Justin does.  It seems a huge mismatch.

I know Tiffany Faison is moving to correspondent for the main bracket, but feels like they should have started her off there.  Brooke wasn't available or was unwilling to come judge with Mei and Maneet for qualifiers? I know she's a main bracket judge.

Ps, I love Mei Lin.  She's so badass.

Hunter got zero of his dad’s chops no matter how much he is heist into the spotlight.  He’s terrible.

Yeah. It's pretty cringe. Guy is constantly trying to losen him up and keep him afloat. I looks unnatural.

Very glad there's no East/West this year.  Just 4 regionals

Though you can tell in the qualifiers who is on their 2nd qualifier and who is brand new.  Kind of an unfair advantage.  Lots of fuckups with time

Just starting to watch the qualifying round. Nice twist by a guy!  Well does this mean Maneet won’t be winning it all this year?

None of the previous winners are competing this year. Tiffany is moving to main bracket correspondent after the qualifiers and the others will be judging as well

I don’t get guy’s fascination with rehabbing Tiffani.  To me she’ll always be “I’m not your bitch, bitch” from early top chef.

She seems like someone who is rough to be around.  But man she can cook.

I’m sure she’s a very kind person but I’m just glad maneet isn’t going to win this year

btw these scores are very low

YouTube tv doesn’t seem to have the replays.

If you can watch live on Sunday you haven't missed much. Still a lot of bracket left and it doesn't get good good til the elite 8 or so
