February 16Feb 16 Rick Beato breaks down the intro theme music in a cool five minute video. He's pretty awesome.

February 16Feb 16 Maybe I'm late to this idea, but I'm starting to think maybe the at-work portion of life experienced by the innies is a simulation and isn't being experienced physically, but rather takes place in their minds. With that in mind, maybe Mark's wife is actually dead IRL and that's why he can only see her at work. But who really knows ... Or if you wanna give it a really good twist ... given the perpetual winter and odd lighting in the outies' world, I wouldn't be totally surprised if the outie world is the simulation and the innies' office is actual reality. February 16Feb 16 Oh FYI & nsiap, some location info, from another board. Quote The waterfall and lake are part of Minnewaska Preserve, 2 hours north of New York City in the Shawangunk Ridge. Specifically Awosting Falls and Lake Minnewaska. It's a really beautiful area. The diner they meet at is Phoenicia Diner on Route 28 in the Catskill Mountains. Mark S.'s and Cobell's blue townhouses are in Nyack on route 9W. The Lumon building itself is a famous Saarinen-designed building, the old Bell Labs offices in New Jersey. They film a lot of the downtown scenes in Beacon, NY. I'm not entirely sure about this one, but Devon and Rickon's house looks like a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonia house and there's a complex of them in the woods in Pleasantville, NY.

Yeah if you watch after the credits they usually give some back story. They mentioned Minnewaska, which that waterfall is pretty iconic if you’ve visited. Beautiful area.
February 17Feb 17 The WTF look that Helly made when Milchick started talking about the Swedish word for the lord doing subterfuge was great. She is a fantastic actress
February 17Feb 17 The paperclip was the wrong direction making it difficult to understand where to start reading, or some BS like that? and it wasn't just feedback but rather its own printed section in the review. And Milcheck now has Ms. Huang spying and reporting on him. Then again, Milcheck is just getting a taste of his own medicine from how he turned on Cobel. I have to think that Milcheck is going to have more doubts about Lumon. And he could be like Cobel in that you have faith in the mission but doubts about the senior mgmt. And Mark is 85% done with the Cold Harbor file. the action is going to heat up soon. Edited February 17Feb 17 by Nice Guy Eddie

I'm not sure if anyone else caught the comment, but the giant dude with the goofy hair conducting Milchick's review stated it was his monthly performance review. Talk about micromanagement. And then there was Natalie practically screaming in anguish through her (big, beautiful, and deeply expressive) eyes for Milchick to chill tfo when he started asking her uncomfortable questions. It's like she's terrified that their conversation was being recorded.

I need to rewatch to remember the exact line but I loved when reviewer mentioned that lunch would be provided for reviews lasting 8 hours. Then he hands Milcheck a lunch menu.

February 17Feb 17 The performance review being a fully generated brochure with different size fonts and full capitalization made me chuckle. Also, poor dumb Ricken not realizing he's being used as a propaganda tool. I'm still trying to figure out how someone as smart and cynical as Devon would marry him. Edited February 17Feb 17 by mdmost
February 17Feb 17 Author Anyone else watch Somebody, Somewhere on HBO? The performance review guy was Iceland. Rickon and Devon's relationship is weird, but there is something generally weird about all the non-severed (outies?) in Keir. The guy who hosted the no-food dinner party. Rebeck, who warned Mark about the wounds on the back of her head from her birds. Etc.

February 17Feb 17 He's fantastic. He's the lead in an Icelandic series called "Trapped" that I watched years ago- Might still be available on netflix. He also had a brief but brilliant role in True Detective season 1.

February 18Feb 18 I had never seen either actor previously. At least that I knew of. Both are excellent.

Yeah, their relationship is really weird. It doesn't appear to make all that much sense. Granted we've only gotten them in bits and spurts, so who knows? Look at their careers. Tillman (Milchik) has been acting for 10 years and barely has any appearances until this show. Lower (Helly) has been getting roles since 2008 but this is the first thing I can remember her in.

The only other thing I've seen Britt Lower in was this show called Ghosted with Adam Scott and Craig Robinson. It was kind of a take on The X-Files. It only lasted one season but I liked it. Probably because of how much I like The X-Files.

I was going back through her IMDB, and she was also in a small indie movie that was filmed in Austin a few years ago called "Mr. Roosevelt," which I've actually seen because someone I had a few dates with has a small role in it. Lower didn't play the lead, so I didn't remember her from it. Looks like it can be rented on Amazon for $3.99. It's an "okay" movie -- kind of your typical small indie that feels like it was made in the 90s.

I was going to add something about that second point but deleted it and yes, it’s hard not to root for an athlete that’s been grinding in the minors for ten years that’s finally made the show. For an actor, it’s also a reminder on how talented a lot of these performers are even if they’re not getting cast as leads in more visible productions. Pos rep for the Sneakers reference, perfect film. Edited February 20Feb 20 by LCHorn
February 20Feb 20 Just binged this over the last couple of weeks. I'm so glad I didn't have to wait over two years for Season 2. What a weird, freaky show. I love it.

February 21Feb 21 A few thoughts/questions while they're fresh: Spoiler Kinda feel like the innies were like kids last season. In this one, they feel like rebellious teenagers. Sup with Burt? And, uh, was that Irving in the car outside the diner when Mark bolts from the dinner after running into Helena? It might've seemed like the dinner party was the same night as Mark's run-in with her and the procedure, but since both Burt and Irving no longer work there, it doesn't necessarily have to be. It's funny Helena makes Helly wear pantyhose to the office.
February 21Feb 21 So Spoiler Burt is a Lumon spy And I am somewhat sure Spoiler Fields was the man rolling the cart of dental tool last week
February 21Feb 21 Yeah Burt set up this dinner with Irving so that Big Lumon Man could go through Irving's apartment while he was away

February 21Feb 21 Mark S? More like MACK amirite. He's got game. Innie - Outie ... and Innie - Outie again, ifyaknowhatimean. Ok I'm done. Yes I'm childish. Other than that, yeah, ol' Burt ain't all he seems and the "20 years ago" thing is interesting. Very curious about Burt's actual history and connections. Also I miss Selvig/Cobel this season. She added such a layer of unpredictable malevolence. Hope they bring her back.
February 21Feb 21 Cobel will be back, there is a picture of her in the season trailer, that hasn't happened yet.
February 21Feb 21 So when Helena and Helle both are pregnant, does that mean Helena will have twins like that book?

February 22Feb 22 Author "The corn was really special." I love John Noble. He is great at playing slightly daffy characters with a lot of depth. He was the best character on Fringe. Burt is totally a Lumon higher-up. I definitely think they are hinting at Helly/Helena being pregnant, especially with Fields mentioning his concern about Burt bringing home STDs from his unprotected work dalliances. Someone like Helena seems like she'd be on birth control, but with Mark being so important to Lumon for unknown reasons, maybe she wants to get knocked up by him. Or just as a fuck you to her dad.
February 22Feb 22 I’ve suspected Burt of being an un-severed mole ever since his retirement party. It seemed completely out of character for Lumon to allow an actual severed employee to casually walk away.

The restaurant mark and Helena we're at was called zufu. It means grandfather in Chinese. The neon sign was broken to where only "fu" was lit. Fu by itself means father.
