March 14, 20223 yr Author For the record, I still feel pretty good about our lineup as long as we can re-sign either Rosario or Soler. Basically trading Freddie for Acuna and Ozuna. Hopefully with the money saved on Freddie, we can re-sign Rosario/Soler and get a decent vet starting pitcher.
March 14, 20223 yr It seems like signing him and not giving up the prospects was a better move. Pissing off the team and the fans to save a few bucks for a few years seems short sighted (you will have to pay Olsen in 2 years).
March 15, 20223 yr Author Signed Olson to a 8 year, $160M extension. Great deal for us. Be out of it by the time he’s 35 too. Now just need to sign either Rosario or Soler and 1-2 bullpen arms and we’ll be looking good.
March 16, 20223 yr hated the olson deal when i heard about it yesterday. like it much more after hearing that they signed him up long term today. will be very weird to see freddie on a different team but that is the era in which we are now in.
March 16, 20223 yr You are saving 60 million over 6 years with this deal. But giving up 4 low cost prospects (3 of which are close to MLB ready) who you will have to replace. 10 million a year is basically a decent middle reliever. If one of those prospects hits then this is very bad.

If one of those prospects hits then this is very bad. We have a 4-5 year window to keep winning with the very team-friendly deals from Acuna and Albies. The only prospect that hurts us during that timeline is Langeliers as he would’ve probably been our starting catcher in a year or two. As far as the $10M/year….we just signed a fringe-all star caliber OF in Rosario for two years at $9M/year. Hate to lose the face of the franchise, but basically trading Freddie for Rosario and a 27 year-old Olson is about as good as that situation could turn out. Edited March 16, 20223 yr by EZ$
March 16, 20223 yr And another decent backup OF option. Quote The Braves announced Wednesday that they’ve signed free-agent outfielder Alex Dickerson to a non-guaranteed Major League deal that comes with a $1MM base salary. Dickerson, a client of Moye Sports Associates, will be placed on the 40-man roster for now and report to Major League Spring Training. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dickeal01.shtml

March 17, 20223 yr The numbers make it even more crazy. Freddie must have wanted to leave. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

I don't believe I will like that one bit. Especially with the Dodgers.
March 18, 20223 yr Author Bryce Elder starting for the Braves today in their first Spring Training game.
March 19, 20223 yr The whole story just gets more strange with Freeman coming out today and saying that he only got two check in calls from the Braves, one before the lockout and one right after it ended. That’s it for the cornerstone of your franchise for the last 10 years? I’ll be interested to see what their side of it is after apparently not even discussing an offer. It sounds like the decision was made during the season to let him walk.
April 7, 20223 yr pretty excited to get the season started tonight. i'm expecting big things this season.
April 7, 20223 yr newsflash, acuna and freddie weren't close: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33690660/atlanta-braves-ronald-acuna-jr-acknowledges-rift-former-teammate-freddie-freeman
April 8, 20223 yr man, this is a loaded fucking lineup and it doesnt even include the team's best player. this should be an awesome season.

April 12, 20223 yr Author Elder making his ML debut today. Tore it up during his 2 spring training starts, hope it continues.
April 26, 20223 yr Tough sport even with good vision. Quote There is now an explanation for Braves outfielder Eddie Rosario’s struggles at the plate and in the field to begin the season. Rosario will undergo a laser procedure in the coming days to correct blurred vision and swelling in his right eye, the club said. Rosario on Monday saw a retinal specialist. The Braves should know more after Rosario’s procedure, but a loose estimate is that he will miss eight to 12 weeks following the surgery. Rosario began the season 3-for-44 (.068 batting average). He has as many errors (three) as hits. Perhaps the most glaring: In San Diego, he simply missed a fly ball in right field. This, and his offensive struggles, can now be explained with Monday’s news. It appears he couldn’t see properly.
June 2, 20223 yr Author Deja Vu so far this season. Can’t seem to put a streak together to get over the .500 mark.

Hope TheKid's streak keeps up. Loved how he took one shot for glory with bases loaded then did what he could for a sweet single scoring two.

Imagine when both of them start getting it going.
July 7, 20223 yr so this team is rolling right now. 26-7 in their last 33 and have taken the first three of four with the cardinals. after that, its three with the nats before the big 3 game series with the mets on monday-wednesday of next week. mets almost lost again in cincinnati last night which would have brought their lead down to 1.5 games, but whatever. these guys are:

July 18, 20223 yr finished the first half 18 games over .500 and 2.5 games behind the mets. 33-11 in june/july. they have 68 games in the next 2.5 months to make up that difference.
July 30, 20223 yr Glad to hear/see Frenchie back. All the others have been getting on my nerves for various reasons.
July 31, 20223 yr Austin fuckin' Riley walks it off and sets a franchise record for extra base hits in a single month!
August 1, 20223 yr now that trades are starting to go down, please find a way to bring joc pederson back!
