  • This postseason has become more sentimental for me and my wife's family.  My father in law is the biggest Astros fan I know.  He watches every game without fail, even DVRing them if he can't watch liv

PSA - the Friday night game is exclusively on Apple TV+.

It is free, but you have to have the Apple TV app, so get that all lined up before game time.

Thanks for the heads up on the Apple TV official exclusivity.  I'll now make sure to test out and update my pirate links tomorrow night.

Happy Opening Day, assholes!

Here's a Pedro Leon highlight for your first cup of coffee.

Can't wait to see who our ALCS opponent is this season

Is 2022 the year we finally overcome an inferior NL East team in the Series?

We keep rooting for them to get there for an easier world series and then it doesn't happen.  Have to take down the Dodgers again...

Here we go!!! Love all of you guys. Season is much better with this thread. LFG for #2.

ESPN - out of 38 baseball staff, exactly 1 picked the Astros to win the AL pennant.

Fangraphs  - two out of 23 picked the Astros to win the AL.

So 3/61 combined. External expectations are apparently lower than they’ve been in a while (2015?). That will give this season an interesting/different feel.

Damn I’m glad this is starting up.

The same FG people that predicted the White Sox to the WS last year at the start of the playoffs. They are too beholden to Zips.

How much did Vegas lower the odds for Houston to win it all when MLB made the announcement about allowing electronic pitch signaling?

I haven't seen the picks, but I am guessing Toronto is the majority.  They seem to be the ones everyone are nutriding

And then there is this....dweebs on MLB Network not even picking us to win the AL West

First pitch moved back to 9:04 tonight. No reason given, but guessing because it's going to be above 90 until after sunset in Anaheim?

The Athletic was zero picking them to win it all and only 37% to even win the division.

It's incredible that a pitching staff that was 36-24 (.600), and had a 3.57 combined era in 500 IP is getting so little respect. Oh yeah, that staff also added a CY contender and 1st ballot HOF to it.

When you add McCullers then it jumps to 49-29 (.628) and a 3.47 era in 660 IP, with a WHIP of 1.184 and a SO/BB of 2.78. So numbers are likely going to get better with Verlander back in the mix.

@Wulaw Horn

3 ER, 6.2 IP, 5 K,  5 H, 3 BB,  88 pitches

Put me on the giveaway list please. I'm in Austin and may not always be able to claim the prize but I'll either make it work or give to the next guy.

mlbtv Thursday night game

Biggest game of the year! Can’t go wire to wire if you don’t win the first one. LFG!

Good pre-game video to watch....that was a fucking great game to attend.

God I wore out Renfroe that day.  I was front row OF and just kept yelling at him that "Yordan owns your soul Renfroe"   It went very sadistic very fast

I'm king of the batting order doesn't matter club but we're still batting Tucker 6th?

Same same.
I really would love to hear the reason for what flies in the face of all modern lineup construction just out of curiosity, but yeah, that kind of thing is measured in small fractions of wins so, whatever.
