Well that contract the Padres gave him sure keeps looking shittier and shittier for them. Jesus. Maybe Preller is the biggest dipshit.

There’s absolutely no way that a major league player, especially if Tatis’ caliber, accidentally test positive for a banned substance.  Every player has an agent who can cross check the medicine his player is taking with the banned substance list.  Every team has a medical staff to monitor and check medicines to make sure they are ok for the player to take.  Every front office would move mountains to make sure that a player like Tatis is in the clear even when it’s a basic medical treatment.  Accidentally taking a banned substance is absolutely bullshit.

So that’s about a $2.5M hit to Tatis, Jr.   Hope it was worth it, dumbass.

Well, good to see you have a firm grasp of the obvious. In other news, water is wet and strippers don’t actually want to be your friend.

That's completely uncalled for.  Some of my best friends are strippers.

He’s fighting cancer man, give him the regular season to dream on.

checking the schedule of the evil LA Dodgers and shocked their upcoming 3 game series with NY Mets is not on national TV. Bummer.

Then looked down the list to see a 5 game series with Arizona.  I've never heard of a 5 game series, wth is MLB doing?

then looked down further and there's a 6 game series with the Rocks to close out the year.  Result of rainouts?

Remember the first week of the season that didn't happen?

Well to be fair to Tatis it's not like he wrote that press release or even read it.

I'll call it now -- Adley Rutschman is a future Hall of Famer.

The Rockies continue to be the Rockies:

Quote

The Rockies steadily put their baseball operations research department back together again over the past several months, topped with a new director of analytics, Brian Jones, a club official said Friday.

Jones, who started with the Rockies in 2002 and over the past 16 years has worked as the team’s video coordinator, is well known and much-liked in Colorado’s clubhouse and front office. “Jonesy,” as he’s known around Coors Field, had been in charge of all video operations, including player analysis and scouting, and since 2014 has overseen the team’s instant-replay room.

He’s the one who relays to manager Bud Black in the dugout whether they should dispute an umpire’s call. He also tailors scouting videos for players and helps produce a package of advance scouting. When he started in that role in 2006, teams were still using VHS tapes.

Over the past two weeks, Jones has taken on his new analytics duties, and he will continue to perform his video scouting role through the end of the season.

In Jones, the Rockies promoted a familiar face who can bridge departments, among analysts, scouts, players and coaches. In other words, he speaks multiple baseball languages.

He has Buddy’s trust,” Rockies assistant general manager Zack Rosenthal said. “He has everybody’s trust.”

The Rockies’ analytics department now totals about eight people. And the Rockies would like to add to that number during the offseason.

In March, during spring training, the Rockies suddenly parted ways with their last director of research and development, Scott Van Lenten, about five months after he was hired. The club did not say why the move was made, declining to elaborate because of a policy concerning personnel matters.

Van Lenten was hired from the Nationals and was put in charge of rebuilding the Rockies’ R&D department after a mass exodus of analysts. What had been the smallest analytics department in the majors was left as a department of one. Van Lenten hired several new staffers, and since his departure, more have left and more have arrived.

...and...

The Rockies’ second-year GM talked about the trade deadline with reporters from Denver while his team was between doubleheader games in San Diego. But Schmidt’s answers were less an explanation than an abdication. He reiterated that the Rockies are a draft-and-develop team but admitted they haven’t drafted and developed well. He talked about Colorado’s financial disadvantage while boasting about another contract extension.

“I think the future is bright,” Schmidt said.

Even in normal years, 4 game series with a rainout makeup DH added for 5 can happen

One of the 2 opening series missed due to lockout was tacked on to the end of the season.

Boy, Preller is NOT happy.

I dig it. Tatis doubled down on the stupid with his press release and left them no option. Dumbass chose one of the weakest and least beneficial to him AAS’s around, then made a complete A-S-S of himself with the press release where he blamed the wrong fucking drug on his positive test. I have no moral or ethical aversion to AAS, but fucking own it. Don’t be a chickenshit coward.

So, he knew this was coming before the trading deadline, right?

“This is the second time we've been disappointed with him. You hope he grows up and learns from this and learns that it’s about more than just him right now,” right-hander Mike Clevinger said.

I think he was blindsided. He got the news of the suspension on Friday from Tatis’ representation.

Yeah, that's even less believable.  Rob Manfred handed an 80-game suspension to one of MLB's most marketed players for 80 games without any sort of a hearing and without notifying the franchise first?
