I searched and didn't see a thread on this.  Can anyone here actually play one worth a shit?   I can't.  I have a couple of Hohners but I've never been able to replicate any of the cool sounds like in Red Headed Stranger, Harvest, or any other seemingly "simple" arrangements.  If someone here has mastered it I'd like to learn how.

Mickey Raphael and John Popper are about as good as it gets IMO

Pretend you're Uncle Boobs when you play.

I guess I sort of can.  Not like Popper.  But I could fake some Mick in a pinch.  Deej isn't far off on his recommendation.

I tried and couldn’t get the hang of it. I can play guitar and used to play piano but harmonica eluded me, af least as far as self taught.

Coworker sings in a cover band and he picked it up really quickly and is pretty good. He never played any other instrument. Go figure.

It's weird, I can do the notes, just not the sound.

Sounds like me and playing slide.  I'm just never had the knack.

This one's not terribly hard to fake.

Yeah, Kim Wilson was good.  I used to really like that band. They put on a good show.

I can entertain friends when I’m drunk. I think it is because I really relax after a few shots.

My go to move is the opening of “If you wanna get to heaven.” As I am a big Steve Cash fan…

Also, I know a guy who was a harmonica session musician for jingles and commercial type recordings.  He made a living with it.

That's the stuff!

Mickey is one of the few musicians that as soon as you hear him, you know who it is.

I've seen Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers a ton of times over the years.  Great blues player.

Thought we had a Harmonica thread, saw this on the Twitterverse.  I may be in love...

The Animals cover of Rising Sun in that thread is also good.

Love the closing scenes of Kingpin where the Amish learn to dance:

Did you guys leave this out so far because it's just too obvious?

Most harmonica players should throw it away.

Cory Branan says his wife makes him practice in the yard.

Damn, I should’ve thought of this a week ago. If I had an harmonica, I’ll bet I could learn to play this.

I sincerely apologize to Delbert for neglecting him in this thread, motherfucker taught John Lennon how to play.  One of the most overlooked Texas musicians, just realized he's 82, good vibes and hopefully many healthy years to come.
