The Rockets are slowly building a team of superstar players that nobody likes.

Just stop with Lebron. He's not leaving the East. Best spend your energy on resigning the core of the team, and going after a guy like Tyreke Evans or finally convincing Sergio Llull to come over. Thi

Can Melo still shoot 3's?

A little..... 35-36% last couple of years.  34.7% for career.....

Melo for Ryan Andersen straight up. I'de do that

melo is going to be bought out.  if he signs with the rockets, ideally you can still get off of anderson some other way.

Can’t we buyout Anderson too? What’s the advantage or disadvantage of buying out a bad contract?

Yes. Advantage is immediate tax relief($20M vs. $8M), disadvantage you have dead cap space for several years. In the Rockets case, they get a $8M hit for the next 4 years.

Why the hell not?  We have nothing to lose on a one year deal. Dantoni can work some magic and we can got ISO from all over the floor.

watching this summer league game and i'm really hoping there is a spot somewhere in the system for trevon duval.  guy gets to the rim at will.

Except each other, which all that matters.

Who gives a fuck if they are loved by the masses? Win games and a title.

It was just an observation. It's an impressive feat.

... and they don't have a single title between them.

I think Melo would be more efficient with CP3 at the point than running with Russ, in my opinion...

Well no one cares what another spurs fan thinks.

Haha! Try again. You let that opportunity slip away like James Harden in crunch time.

You’re on the Rockets thread. No one gives a fuck what you think so bounce to whatever team you root for is. Lakers? Lulzzz they won’t even sniff the rockets ass this year so fuck off.

First off, I was just having a little fun. Second off, I'm not a Lakers fan. Third off, lighten up. Fourth off, nice adult trash talk.

We're better than this. How is 'Melo in isolation? Is he a guy Morey has a plan to plug in and maximize?

8 hours ago, Rockethorn1978 said:

So my question is it worth it in our case?

I think so as Anderson needs to move on, and I don't think Morey will ever find anyone to take that contract.

Jello is a loser, plain and simple. Last thing this team needs is another questionable playoff guy. Especially when your top two players and the coach struggle with their expectations.

He felt undervalued by Houston yet hasn't been offered by any other team? Wouldn't that mean he is undervalued by the NBA in general?

He's worth more than Levine for sure, but that's a bad contract. Land on 4/60 and keep it moving.

I’m down with it.

If Capela was offered a similar contract to Nurkic, then I would say that's undervaluing him because he's a hell of a lot better than Nurkic.

Actually they are very similar, and definitely not a $8M per difference. 4/60M is probably Capela's maximum worth right now.

I disagree. In my opinion, Nurkic has plateaued which is why he was traded. Capela’s arrow is pointing up.

Nurkic is 23 years old and is Capela's equal on defense with a more rounded offensive skill set.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I like Capela a lot more.

this summer league game has actually gotten a little fun.  rj hunter and de'anthony melton have been the standouts tonight.

But I honestly didn't think the Paul/Harden thing would work as well as it did so what the hell do I know?

The Rockets will wait out Capela's bluff. I don't think Capela would want to risk it by playing out the qualifying offer year ( see what happened to DMO, Noel, etc). Calling it at 36 mil for 3 yrs. Thats still alot of money in case things goes south, and you get a chance to earn a max contract in your prime.

Who's DMO?  Noel was never in Capela's class....  I could see a 1+1 or just playing on the QO if it gets down to it.....

DMO  = Donatas Montiejunas.

Noel hasn't produced at the same level but that didnt stop the Mavs from offering a shit ton of money. Now Noel has an injury issue and was happy to sign for the min to be a backup.

All Im saying is that, Capela can gamble or take a compromise but still get life changing money. I assume he would choose the later

Noel is a bad comp. Not only has he never produced like Capela, I’m not sure he shows up to work. Literally. Capela was a contributing member of a 65 win team. His only fear should be injury. The Rockets should use their leverage, but I don’t see 4/48 anywhere close to getting it done. Teams have cap space next year and someone will spend it on Capela if he isn’t locked up this summer.

4 years 60-70m sounds about right to me. At 70m, he would be making 17.5m a year. Great deal for both sides if they can make it happen. Would love to see Capela stay for a long time, he's a good one.

You can’t assume Nurkic wasn’t overpaid.

Yeah, but that's the name of the agent game. The market conditions this offseason should lead to players being underpaid. So if Nurkic was overpaid this offseason, that's a good thing for Capela because they play the same position. I think the Rockets are going to resign him. I just think he's being devalued on this thread.

I think Capela is going to end up signing a relatively cheap, 1 year qualifying offer with the Rockets then go full unrestricted FA next year when there’s more money available.

That would make sense. It's unlikely Dallas signs DJ next year, and they will need a young center to go with their core. I'm surprised they didn't take a shot at getting Capella this year.
