Yeah, but you can't put a price on CU admins hobnobbing with elite PAC academicians.

$67 MM is pocket change

Seems like they did put a price tag on it. $67mm (and counting). :D

So I've thought the PAC12 was paying more and they haven't been. Is that what I am seeing here?

Due to the pac 12 network sucking at monetizing the bottom half of their inventory… yes.   This also doesn’t include tier three rights where the remaining 8 get 3m each and the LHN gives UT much more.

Yeah, what @S11 said.  This is just Baylor's conference payouts by year, no T3, vs Colorado's conference payouts.

PAC media deal is getting heated

Shoutout to @johncanzanobft for taking shots at me but never coming on my podcast or having dialogue with me. By the way, you got fired from your job which is why you’re a subscription based writer too sweetheart.

San Diego State tight end reveals players were told multiple times they were joining Pac-12

Spoiler

San Diego State tight end reveals players were told multiple times they were joining Pac-12
Just like many around the country the players of San Diego State thought they'd be in the Pac-12
KEVIN BORBA

For what has now been over a year, the Pac-12 has been in the process of responding to departures from USC and UCLA.

While those losses are significant and there are no programs available that would make up for losing them, there has always been a thought process of who they should add to help rebuild some value. Again, not because adding them restores the value lost, but more so to get the conference more money and in significant markets like the SoCal market. Mountain West program San Diego State has long been viewed as the perfect candidate for the Pac-12, and had even taken steps recently to leave their conference before having to retreat back due to not (yet) being invited to the Pac-12.

Unfortunately for San Diego State they are now facing public ridicule after leaving the Mountain West, whether they "meant" to or not. However, it doesn't mean that they won't eventually be invited but they clearly weren't buying that the Pac-12 wouldn't invite them until they had their media rights deal done. Something that has yet to happen, and won't be announced anytime soon despite their being beliefs they'd announce it at Pac-12 media day.

While Pac-12 media day is not for another day, it was news from Mountain West media day that has caught the attention of many. Specifically, news from one player on the San Diego State roster, as First-Team All-Mountain West tight end Mark Redman revealed that the players had been told multiple times they were going to the Pac-12.

"A year ago they said we were going, two months ago they said we were going, but really at this point the focus is just on the Mountain West and being able to win that 22nd championship for us and that's all we are really focused on. If it comes it comes, if not...it is what it is."

Even with not being invited to the Pac-12, the consensus around the country is that once the Pac-12 actually gets their deal that they will invite the Aztecs. Whether or not San Diego State will be able to join in time for next year is up to the Mountain West themselves, who were not at all appearing to want to be lenient when the Aztecs attempted to leave the first time.

And Oregon is telling every 2024 recruit they’ll play in the Big Ten. Probably telling recruits that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will make a movie about them too. Because when they start lying, why stop?

Pac-12's George Klivakoff: "We are not announcing our media rights deal on purpose today because we want the focus to be on football." But when asked on a follow up question, he wouldn't confirm if a deal was done or not

That would have been now, George.

Klownkoff: We are not announcing our media rights deal on purpose today because we want the focus to be on football.

Reporter: To be clear, that would imply that the deal is done and codified, and you're just waiting until after today.

Klownkoff: I think you're reading too much into that.

😂😂😂

What an idiot.  He had eight months to get ready for this press conference, and he manages to expose himself yet again as a total fraud/empty suit in less than 10 minutes.

You couldn't script this level of stupidity if you tried- you just can't make this up!!!  🤣

I am truly amazed at how people who have no business running a collegiate athletic conference are able to ascend to the role of commissioner (GK, L. Scott, D. Beebee, etc.)

The Peter Principle is alive and well in college athletics.

May mean nothing at all.

I’m in Vegas staying at Encore.  The PAC-12 media day is going on, at this very minute across the street at Resorts World, which I can see out the window

This entire week there has been absolutely zero signage or promotion on that property  what’s going on there today.

Here’s a live pic   Plenty of Tina Fey and Katie Perry promotion, however

George Kliavkoff on the narrative that his league will collapse: “I know where the sources of that are coming from. I discount that because I know the truth.”

Pac-12’s George Kliavkoff said losing schools to Big 12 “is not a concern. Our schools are committed to each other & (this cycle) of realignment will come to an end”

Why do we hold this Arizona jack-off up as some paragon of truth? He has been wrong about Arizona joining the Big 12 imminently, and just the other day he said "I like Jon."

I know a lot of single women in their late 30s who feel the same way.

On the narrative that the Pac-12 will no longer exist, George Kliavkoff says he has chosen to "take the high road" over the last year.He was concerned, at first, that the buzz would impact the Pac's recruiting. It hasn't, he says."It’s reinforced the decision to know engage.”

They could just broadcast on Youtube and monetize the channel.

"As we wait for the result of video review we'd like to remind everyone to like, share, and subscribe , it really helps us out. Thanks."

George Kliavkoff confirms what we/others have reported: The Pac-12's Grant of Rights has "already been negotiated" and will be announced alongside a TV deal, whenever one is finalized.

Pac-12 commish George Kliavkoff told @bmarcello, league’s remaining members will not leave conference but would not specify if Pac-12’s media rights deal will match or exceed Big 12's ($31.7M/school). “I'm not going to tell you where our media deals are coming in. It will be…

Despite Colorado chancellor Phil DiStefano’s suggestion that Pac-12 presidents would see figures of a TV deal at a meeting Thursday, nothing came. The wait continues. And so does the watch (of Colorado).“We need to see numbers.”https://t.co/M5Q3gkjq5P

Sounds like Colorado's patience is wearing thin.

Is his emphasis on "The Grant of Rights has already been negotiated" a warning to CU and others that you are stuck with whatever deal I give you?
