After agreeing to marry the Big East, didn't TCU leave them at the altar before the ceremony could be completed? TCU has no room to talk!

Lol Burrows just got told to get to the point by the chairwoman

how many people are going to ask "what one thing made your decision" when he's made it clear it was many factors. Do these idiots even listen to his previous answers?

Hartzell says that the same reason the other Big 12 schools want Texas - Texas wants the SEC.  More exposure.  Better brand.  More money.

Someone refresh my memory.  Was there a Senate hearing when aggy left the Big 12?

Each are just playing to their district butt-hurt schools.....

Nope!  They even mentioned that in the hearing.

Holy shit - I think its over.  Chair makes the point there is no law preventing UT from leaving and no one passed a law when aggy left.

No, but there was an after hours kegger at some ag legislators house, paid for with lobbyist funds.

Just so I have this straight:

-aggy leaves, no one cares.

-We leave, and there’s a god damn conga line of Senators begging us to stay.

If that doesn’t paint a clear enough picture of how both schools are viewed, I don’t know what will.  Go get your fucking shine box aggy.

So the way I understand things is this:

everything bad that happens in or to the big 12 is Texas’ fault.

but also Texas can’t leave because everything good in the big 12 is because of Texas.

and Texas has no say in any of this and is duty bound to keep taking shit from all of these schools while bringing in most of the value that generates the revenue in which they share.

and they have to ask why Texas might not like this arrangement and seek to leave for a more equitable circumstance?

Yes because we were still there, hence the meal ticket continues for Tech and Baylor. TCU was thrown a lifeline by Deloss in 2012.

Yep and you have the exact reason why Hartzell and the administration are happy to be done with the rest of the programs in this state.

Stupid sip. It just shows they have so much power and actually run the state that the politicians knew to just step aside.

TCU and Baylor backed the wrong horse. Instead of chasing research dollars, they chased football championships.

There’s a reason why Rice doesn’t give a shit about football. They make significantly more money on research grants. And oh yeah, they improve society while doing this.

What the fuck is baylor going to research? How not to get caught for murder and/or rape?

Except they got caught, just not punished.

And they were a backup plan when it came to the expansion candidates, a last minute Plan B or C at that.

They could start there, yes!

BlowU needs to learn from Bama how to run a football factory with a school as front. Poor muthas can't even afford their own buyout.

See. Should have went the research route!

Whitmire is the only one who seems to have a brain or any critical thinking capabilities.  +1 University of Houston.  I think....

Texas politicians aren't anti-socialism. They're pro-selfishness. Whatever benefits me is great. Whatever doesn't benefit me is terrible. This farce just shows it in high definition detail

Don't be fooled. If UH was losing out in this instead of enjoying schadenfreude he'd be a hypocritical selfish cunt right alongside the rest of them.

This move should've happened back in '94, but the pro-selfishness TxGov/TxLege politicians then blocked it.

All this did was get a lot of dumb takes on the record that will get used in the UT vs Big 12 lawsuit about walking away for the GOR…

Use these comments in the draft of the lawsuit and send it to Bowsly as a negotiating tool to cap damage.

Then add in the idea that Texa she’s sovereign immunity and so the potential worst case for them is now 0 payout and let the games begin.

In many ways this is as absolutely stupid that the representatives of these school would be willing to speak in this type of venue and say the things they did…

Apparently to get some sick burns in on Texas.

To allow the senators who represent districts containing spurned Irate-8 schools make a record for their constituent voters, "See, I tried to help. Don't forget to vote for me."

So we're saying politicians aren't necessarily intelligent nor critical thinkers?

So... they were trying to convince Texas that it should stay, by shitting all over Texas?

Yes, and they were way too myopic a decade ago to realize that letting aggy walk without a fight just set up precedent for the big dog to do the same down the road. I'm just surprised it took 10 years. I guess they tried earlier but the pac12 fell through. Good thing though because with the changes to things like NIL since then this is a far far better move for Texas athletics.

Politics as usual

Hartzell deserves a round of applause for handling that like the smartest guy in the room SHOULD handle that.  Stick to the script and let’em get their crying in.....we all know how it ends.
