I’ve always thought UT was far more B1G than Sec. Conference full of flagships, AAU members and good to great sports teams. What’s not to like?

Have you ever met anyone from Ohio?

But, yeah, point taken.

Texas’s schedule in the Big 10 would look a lot more like its Big 12 schedule than its SEC schedule.

You guys complained about having schools like us and the Kansas schools on your schedule every year, but that’s basically what you’d have got in the Big 10.  Maybe one of Pedo/OSU/Mich per year.  A lot fewer helmet schools than the SEC.

I disagree. Us, UW, USC, OR and the dumb fucks in Norman would have shifted the landscape. Especially if this was done +10 years ago as the P12 would have secured far better TV deals the last 1-2 rounds.

"insane cultural disparity" outside of football, what in the fuck do we have in common with sec?

I would have enjoyed this trip

Over plantation tours

Then take the trip?  This is about football and not fan vacations, football is far and away the most important cultural touchstone.

The Pac 12 didnt put sports at the top of their priority list and now they don’t exist.

I'd like to sit in on one of these meetings just once.

I'm a little surprised the SBC is choosing to add a third Louisiana team rather than WKU or Liberty. But, whatever.

Bottom line is ESPN didn't want FOX to secure UT and 0u inventory. That's why ESPN money-whipped us with LHN.

Not sure how you travel, but when I go see us play on the road, I go do things in the local vicinity if there is something worth doing.

And there is a lot more going on in the old P12 vs most of the sec destinations.

Not a fan of a place that considers Prego over noodles chili.

I used to go to a lot of road games.  It would be a weekend trip designed around soaking in the game day experience of that school, with little time for exploring the greater locale.  I would much rather do this in a place like Baton Rouge than Palo Alto.  The amount of fun I had in a trip had a lot to do with the game itself and experience around it.

I travel around the US as much as I can, and my actual vacations rarely overlap with places that have major colleges.

Well, we are clearly different. You go to the game and bounce. We don't.

Since the majority of the cost for said trip is already laid out and if you are already going to be there, mind as well take advantage of things to do. That's how my group like to do it. We enjoy the game and experience and when that is done, we go explore. And there is a lot more to do in the old P12 than in sec country. Unless throwing rocks off a bridge, noodling or cow tipping is of interest for someone.

To each his own ;)

I would say Clint is a fucking embarrassment, but the real embarrassment is a couple of TCU alums I went to school with who think Clint is incredibly funny and original to the point they believe they must share his videos to every Frog alum they know, even those of us who have told them multiple times to stop sending us the shit.

That guy is extremely cringey.  He had a funny ISU character in one video that got forwarded to me, but most of it reminded of those terrible niche comedians that are making jokes for some weird insular community.  Like an explicitly Christian comedian.

I'd prefer Memphis to UCF and probably also Cincy and UH, but the numbers obviously didn't work because they were bypassed for those three. If this money had been on the table back then I wonder if it would have worked. They're renovating the Liberty Bowl which helps I guess but they still are seemingly stuck in G6 permanently if even this offer can't get them in.

Yeah, this deal looks every bit as aggressive as SMU's pitch to the ACC. They forgo their payouts for 7 years, I think. I don't recall what type of corporate tie-ins were offered, though.

Good.

I’d trade them for Baylor in a second.

IMO - by 2030 there will be a newly formed CFB League of 36-48 teams, divided into equal divisions structured similar to the NFL.  TV will dictate who gets into the “haves vs have not’s” FB only league.  Like the NFL, playoff structure will be similar.

Everyone else will continue conference play for FB and Spring sports, and we will continue conference play in other sports.

Hook’em!!!

That was understandable based upon how the head to head played out.

Jokes aside, TCU brought little to Big 12 and that has been part of the problem.

The sluts in Lubbock are just as hot, more plentiful and less rich/spoiled.

Add Arizona State to the mix, and why the hell do you need TCU?

The argument for has always been to bring in the Metroplex, but in my mind that has been about as accurate as you bring in UH for the Houston market.

Same thing historically has gone for SMU as well which brings us back to the uncomfortable truth this isn't about competition, the pageantry of college sports, rivalries and all that bull shit and cut to the chase it is simply about money and greed.

The only question to me is how much longer until members of the SEC and the Big 1 0 start to turn on each other for bigger pieces of the pie because I have seen this story before and in the end the knives will come out.

That sucked, we lost fair and square. Second hardest lost after 2011 @ ISU. Of course, my problem with Baylor isn't wins and losses, it's that part where they covered up and enabled players to commit multiple rapes over several years and the head coach let it happen because they were playing well. Oh and the other part where a basketball player murdered another basketball player and the head coach instructed his players to lie and defame the deceased to avoid being caught committing recruiting violations.

They also offered to be expelled if the Big 12 deemed they weren’t bringing the promised value. That’s….desperate

Vandy and Purdue will be getting their pay cut soon, I’d imagine.

For now, until one of the chosen decides even those scraps are too much to share with them.

Pretty sure what we are seeing unfold was the plot line in something from Homer and Shakespeare.

Y'all are the source of Baylor's most painful loss (IMHO) in the last 20 years. I'm sure you know the one.
