I don't know much about this other than seeing bumperstickers about it years ago.  Lately I've read he's the only person imprisoned -- under dubious circumstances -- after some shootout in the 70s or 80s that killed some FBI agents.  I vaguely recall hearing an FBI agent refer to AIM (American Indian Movement) as "Assholes in Moccasins" but he might have been biased. 

I could google it and all but was wondering if anyone had any particularly interesting info about all this.  

I read this book for an American Studies class at UT.  Recommend reading it if you’re interested in the story.
