May 31, 20187 yr 11 am kick off talk not going away. Off the top of my head, Bama is the only team that doesn't have a couple 11 am games every season. I think it's the new normal with the TV networks. They must be getting good numbers on the East Coast.

May 31, 20187 yr At least the G5 home game is a night matchup as well. Still baffled as to how we got stuck with SJSU at 2:30 PM in early September.

July 8, 20187 yr An article of the importance of the month of September for the Longhorns: Quote Why September is extremely important for Texas Longhorns in 2018 ByBRAD CRAWFORD Jun 19, 12:33 PM (Photo: © Troy Taormina, USA TODAY Sports) You're only as good as your last game. You never want to put too much emphasis on the outcome of a singular outing in coaching circles, but for Texas, that bowl win over Missouri was a pretty damn good momentum booster for Tom Herman heading into his second season in Austin. The Longhorns' emphatic victory was much-needed to conclude a 2017 campaign filled with near-misses, finally culminating in optimism against a quality opponent. Todd Orlando's defensive effort was dominant, the offense wasn't plagued by critical miscues and execution was largely on point as Texas left its stamp on a winning season. https://247sports.com/Article/Why-September-is-extremely-important-for-Texas-Longhorns-in-2018-119168026/
July 8, 20187 yr USC, TCU, @Kansas State (fuck Manhattan), and v. Oklahoma (Dallas)...that's as tough a 4-game gauntlet as any team in the country is going to see in 4 consecutive weeks. Sure there are four tougher opponents on dozens of teams' slates, but nothing back-to-back-to-back-to-back like this when you consider Manhattan as a shitshow for us. Anyway, also interesting to note between Maryland and Oklahoma being true neutral site game (I bet it's 60/40 in Landover with us being 40%), and a bye week in late-October, Texas will only play one true road game in the first EIGHT weeks of the season. Just found it curious.

July 8, 20187 yr . Anyway, also interesting to note between Maryland and Oklahoma being true neutral site game True neutral site game because U of MD is 10 miles away from Landover? How will MD handle travel plans with the airlines? Will they stay in a hotel they aren't used to or the one they stay at every Friday night of game day? Okay.gif
July 8, 20187 yr Cant't drink all day if you don't start in the morning. Can't stay awake for Pac after dark if you do..

Will they stay in a hotel they aren't used to or the one they stay at every Friday night of game day? Okay.gif No, almost a true neutral site game because we'll bring 40% of the crowd. I consider any split over 70/30 to be neutral. Sure, you'll always just have some apathetic locals that just want to see a good game or entertain some clients. Thank you for explaining the proximity of UMD campus to Landover. It's not a home game for them. It's a game where UT fans from all along the East Coast should pour into. We will be incredibly well represented. The real question is how do we avoid shitting the bed against an inferior team that barely won 2 more FBS games after us last year (their 3 win over FBS schools totaled less than 3 touchdowns). I realize it's not Miami, or Chicago, or Seattle. But it's pretty fucking neutral because of how many tens of thousands of UT fans are coming from the East Coast and Texas proper to the game. If you're interested in attending our pre-game fundraiser, please let me know...sarcasm aside. Thanks and high five.
July 8, 20187 yr With a quick Google, its 6 miles. Their season ticket holders will be at the game. It looks like their home stadium holds just over 50k. I am betting local non season ticket holders will also go to Landover to take in the game by the thousands as well. If it is 60/40 I will be surprised. But my point is when you have a 3+ hour flight and jump a time zone vs driving 6 miles that is not a TRUE neutral game.

July 9, 20187 yr I was fixin to shit on the east coast and everyone that lives there, but I just can't do it. I've always had a hell of a good time in that neck of the woods. Notwithstanding, Hook "em Horns!

July 9, 20187 yr So the Terps are driving to the game? I assure you...this is news to me. I think we should get a bus as well. Maybe a Maryland Staties escort.
July 9, 20187 yr Not sure what you mean by driving to the game from the Terp fans. Of course they are, and of course the team is. Listen, I get that there will be a bunch of longhorn fans there. I went to the ND game, and the day before I was at the Cubs game and they played Eyes during the game. Tons of Texans in the crowd. My entire point is that the crowd noise, or lack thereof, isnt the determining factor on a neutral game site. It's a full day of travel and an additional day of planning vs a 6.1 mile drive. It's not a neutral game site. But, I'm done here and we can agree to disagree.

They could beat us at home though (same team that took georgia and A&M to the brink). We go to Central Michigan (they boat raced us at home last year) so we don't see that as a win. We get Rutgers at home but they are in better shape than we are. It came out yesterday that all of the building we have done is for naught. We actually have less scholarship players right now than we did when Beaty took over. We do have hope that we will hire Bert though. So we've got 2019 to look forward to being meme'd into D1AA status.

Nicholls lost to UGA by 2 and A&M by 10 both on the road. We'll have about 12 fans in the stadium so whoever plays technique football the best will come out on top. No chance we beat Rutgers or CMU. Baylor is our 4th game and that will start the pain. Luckily we'll fire our HC by week 5 so we'll have something to look forward to.
July 9, 20187 yr I hope so bad bert is damned to kansas football. Somebody has to coach there I guess.
July 9, 20187 yr I would give him a lifetime contract if it meant 6 wins 4 out of 5 years and 8 wins 1 out of 5 years.
