So here is a question that it wasn't Andor's job to answer, but I don't know if it has been answered definitely anywhere else in the Star Wars universe.  What is the foundation of the relationship between Saw Gerrera and the Urso family?

According to Wookiepedia, Saw helped Galen and his family escape Coruscant once he found out what his work was being used for and bought the land they lived on when Krennick shows up on R1

I'd given up on the SW franchise because like Marvel, they were just putting out utter shit. I don't think this series fixes that in any way but hopefully it sets a high bar for follow up shows to at least try to respect.

This series is incredible. I know how R1 starts and ends and I was on the edge of my seat every episode. The vision, writing, and the acting, I don't know enough superlatives to express how fucking awesome they were.

This was a heavy series. Every episode left me burdened with the feels.

Watching Rogue One now. The difference in dialog is a bit jarring.

Gilroy came in to patch up Gary Whitta's script, and didn't rewrite the whole thing.

I'm so sad this is completed.  This has been fantastic. Season 2 actually improved on Season 1 which doesn't happen often,

Finally watched last night. Not much else to add that hasn’t been said, except that I really liked the juxtaposition of the Andor rebellion of dirty killers (terrorists?) against the plucky Skywalker rebellion.

If you haven’t watched the final Declassified episode found in the Extras section (and linked up thread) you need to. It’s emotional.

Oh yeah forgot to ask: were the Waif and Qyburn the only two GoT alums? What an incredible pair of shows to be in.

Especially considering Andor actually stuck the landing on their "catspaw dagger"

No. There were others. In season 1, Chief Hyne, Syril's lazy boss was Yohn Royce, the bannerman of House Arryn. Leida, played one of Vary's little birds. The Spice King played a Senator. Captain Tigo from season 1 had a brief appearance as Rhaegar Targaryen.

Like others, I started up R1 after finishing Andor last night.

Gamechanging.  It's like getting another new movie.

I wouldn't mind a Klaya and Wilmon story line.  Maybe they help the Bothans get the info they need for the 2nd Death Star.

Kleya marries Manny Bothans, helps him with the intel then Manny and Wilmon do the job.

Even though we knew where this would end, it was still a fantastic ride.  Kleya having to take out Luthen was not expected and the flashbacks on their relationship were very well done.   I too would like to know more about what was going on when Luthen first meets her.

It really was a satisfying ending all around.  Deedra, Heert and Partagaz all suffered in their own way (and we know Krennic has it coming in R1).  That scene between Deedra and Luthen in the gallery was superb as was the Deedra/Krennic one.  And that ending.   At first glance, it could have seemed schlocky but knowing that is why Bix left....   Wow.

I'm not one to rewatch "TV" series but I am going to rewatch this soon.

TLDR: Rebels Season 3 Episode 18 "Secret Cargo" shows Mon's escape from Coruscant to Yavin courtesy of the Ghost. I know Filoni was Gilroy's lighthouse for keeping the story to SW's lore. It's cool that Gilroy kept the continuity between the two shows.

I think the plan is to watch Secret Cargo tonight, and then rewatch S2 E12 and roll it right into Rogue One.

That card game Cass, Melshi and K2 looked fun. And looked a lot better than playing Sabaac in SW: Outlaws

Just re-watched Secret Cargo. Gave me goose bumps.

Andor series gives everything so much more gravity and life. Like ripples in a pond.

Chopper is the best Droid character with K coming in a close second IMO.

Chopper threatened your family if you didn't say that, didn't he? 😉

Most of you already do this but if you don't, watch the various breakdown shows on YT. You'll understand level of diligence that Gilroy and the writers kept to SWs lore and how intertwined the stories are across many seeminly disparate films and series.

This is a good breakdown. There are others.

Episode 10, with stretches of 2 and 3 minutes or longer with zero dialogue (other than the rando guards/troopers' comments) and Kleya just cutting through like a knife through Franklin brisket, is absolutely perfect filmmaking, and added to the immense tension.  Phenomenal.

I mean....

She said it.  Luthen, by wanting to overthrow the Empire, wanted chaos to spread across the galaxy.

Democracy is chaos.  Freedom is chaos.

Dedra does not like chaos.

Watching Rogue One immediately after Andor is a mixed bag.

On the one hand, many scenes have a whole new weight, depth and meaning to them that they didn't have before, and not just Cass's. K2 telling the Alliance to fuck off as they leave for Scarif, Mon doing anything, Saw's huffing fumes addiction, and so on.

On the other... it's definitely a step down in overall writing quality. Jyn giving her pep talk on Scarif approach... it's a good speech, but it's also cringe because you've seen what everyone else on that ship has been through, but not her, so it feels like she hasn't earned the right to lecture them.

#1834

Just watched Rogue One. How the fuck did R2 and C3PO end up Leia's ship if they were on Yavin as the battle on Scarif was going on???

You mean besides having her father taken by Krennic and her mother being killed?

It wasn't a bomb; it was a way to hack into starship fuel.

But how does that put her in charge? It gives her some cred, but doesn't make a leader out of her.

Anyway, it's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. It's not "Somehow Palpatine Returned" levels of bullshittery, or ... whatever that was on The Acolyte where every character's motivation was "Because the plot required them to make this choice."

Jyn Urso fought with Saw Gerrera....he even says she was the best solider in his guard (as a teenager).  We just didn't see it.  Her natural "leaderness" came out I guess.

They were late and Leia was about to be on the comm saying “THREEPIO YOU AND R2 GET BACK HERE NOW OR YOU’LL BE MELTED DOWN FOR PARTS!”

Watching R1 now, and the Eadu scene is unbelievable.

Unbelievable in the sense that Cassian didn't shot Galen Erso as soon as he was in his crosshairs. Prequel Cassian had not problem killing anyone who got in his way.

I know it’s popular with some of yall to shit on lightsabers and the Force etc, but don’t forget the dozens and dozens of episodes of Rebels and Clone Wars. It *can* be done well.

Animated and live action storytelling are very different.

LIghtsabers and the Force are awesome. If Andor can teach anything to future SW show writers/creators, it's that restraint is the best strategy. Need better stories/scripts/developed characters that have an earned lightsaber/Force scene, instead of the bukkake that's been previously done to mask the laziness of bad writing.

Andor, Skeleton Crew and Mando season 1 are the best live action SW shows so far.  All 3 had no or very minimal use of lightsabers/the force.

Skeleton Crew making it very "mysterious" to a bunch of kids was good writing too
