May 2May 2 Finally caught up on the new episodes. Bix’s arc is remarkable. She’s gone through some real trauma: torture, sexual assault, guilt over taking a life, drug abuse, and she has emerged a stone cold killer. Unfortunately I think I know where that arc is headed.
May 2May 2 Unfortunately not enough people are watching, especially for a $645M show: https://www.mediaplaynews.com/samba-tv-andor-s2-disney-premiere-viewership-equals-s1-below-the-mandalorian/

Love the show, but I wonder if the distribution model doesn’t allow buzz to generate over the week and get viewership traction over 12 weeks instead of 4.

Except the way it’s set up, this wouldn’t work for 12 weeks. You need the middle episode to set up the third episode each week. It would not be effective weekly

May 2May 2 The great thing about this show is Disney absolutely doesn't care about viewership. This is all about being creative and having a prestige TV program. It's also about telling a great story and we've seen that's not always something that garners high ratings. I wish we didn't give a shit about ratings. I never heard about it when the Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men were in their prime.
May 2May 2 Hard to get the next pricey prestige show funded when no one watched the last one. Maybe they will create some sort of reality tv show. Real Housewives of Coruscant.
May 2May 2 Sopranos was pulling in 12M viewers per episode. One of the problems now is there is too much content spread across too few viewers.
May 2May 2 You cannot compare the streaming views now versus shows that ran on cable TV and ended almost 20 years ago. Different mediums, different viewers. Streaming means it's not exactly "watch it when it's on or you have to wait a while to find it." Some people may be waiting for it to finish to binge or wait for the weekend, since it's 2.5 hours of TV. Also whatever, it's on par with season 1's viewerships for the first episodes, on par with Ahsoka and trails only Mando and Obi-Wan. SW fatigue, the 3 episode runs on one night, whatever.

Real Housewives of Coruscant. There won't be any more of these from Disney+. Ahsoka season 2 is probably the end of the line for a while for TV shows. Maybe they'll do some one off limited series like the SW horror series that's in production. Disney already flipped back to the theatrical model for Star Wars. That's why the Mandalorian is a movie now and not another season. Best we can hope for now is animated series like Maul.
May 2May 2 And that too - the movie franchise to TV show model just isn't working for Disney. The MCU shows mostly bombed, especially the latter ones, and they transitioned their most popular SW show back to the big screen. They are doing the same for their original IP too - fewer long-form shows, more animated movies.

I wonder if she's going to end up being a sleeper agent, along the lines of Ysanne Isard's antics in the old Rogue Squadron book series. Thematically it would line up, right down to a loved one being forced to put them down
May 2May 2 If you just want to bitch about Disney, you can do it somewhere else Meanwhile: ‘Andor’ Has Pulled in Over $300 Million in Subscriber Revenue for Disney+ | Parrot Analytics’ Streaming Economics system calculates the 'Star Wars' show drives more revenue than 'Ahsoka' & 'The Book of Boba Fett'
May 2May 2 The Watch does a really good breakdown on the last arc. I normally don't want to listen this intently to breakdowns of content I watch but there's so many layers to Andor and the writing that it's great to get this kind of detail. Gilroy has really built this show on show much history that's come before like the French resistance, double agents, and propaganda. https://open.spotify.com/episode/178MGIi610urK95yhGmVUL?si=c152a40888cb44d3
May 2May 2 Why would Disney or any streaming service care if people watch on opening day? It's not like they are selling time-sensitive commercials during the show's live airing. It's about new and retained subscriptions and number of total views over time indicate the relative value to other shows. With due respect to Buzzrock, I've thought Andor, Mando, and Ahsoka were great and BOBF and Acolyte were worth watching once. I'm also a SW addict and will watch any content even if it's "shitty."

Well given I am pretty sure Cassian and new Bix (Jyn Erso with her life of pain and similar stone cold killer abilities) are falling for each other near the end of R1 it’s pretty safe to say Bix is eliminated.

There was an interesting quote from Diego Luna in the YouTube clip posted above when he said something like, "Andor is a story of love in a time of rebellion." I suppose there's no rule about falling in love a second time during the same, so yeah, that checks out. After all, the whole thing is a state of heightened emotions.

Yep, Syril will realize he’s fucking Mongo to Dedra and my prediction is he’s ultimately involved in helping put some people in place to get “the plans”
May 2May 2 Dedra didn't seem to like it when Partagaz complimented Syril. She's gonna turn on him soon enough.
May 2May 2 If you think back to last season it’s at about this point in the season arc that we got a surprise relationship we didn’t previously know existed (in that case it was that Vel is Mon’s cousin). Could we be about to get another perhaps bigger one?

Released in the middle of spring (high volume sports season in the US) after a multi-year hiatus. People will be catching up on it all summer and into the fall. I’ll probably watch it 2-3 times by then.

Holy shit I forgot that was Qyburn. I think they have her make that face on purpose. Either way still would.

If Disney hadn’t destroyed Star Wars then Andor might be performing better and we would have a better chance at more good prestige SW content. I don’t know why mdmost thinks that Disney doesn’t care about making money, they absolutely do, and a $300M loss is not going to be something they will be eager to do again. Andor is great. Fuck you Disney for insuring we’ll never get anything else like it.
