Arsenal doesn't have the depth City does.

No one does. When you can sit KDB and pull Gundogan into your squad you have crazy depth. He starts at almost every other club in every league.

Neither do any of the other clubs really.

I am not sure it's a given that no one can compete with City. They are the Yankee's of the last 20th Century that spends everyone into oblivion. But they are ripe to be beaten with teams that are able to utilized EPL Moneyball to assemble teams. I think Arsenal has done it best of anyone, putting together the exact team they have wanted, across many seasons with the goal of a complete team that plays the style they want 1-11. Though clearly not the depth, yet. Throw more UCL money at them, lets see what they do.

I'm just worried we're turning into the Bundesliga with one club that's just going to dominate into perpetuity.

Don't worry. It'll probably take 2-3 years before Newcastle takes over.

For the relegation fight remaining...

Nottingham Forest: Arsenal and Palace.

Everton: Wolves and Bournemouth.

Leeds: West Ham and Spurs.

Leicester: Newcastle and West Ham.

as much as i hate to root for rupert and nate, hammers kind of hold everton's fortunes in their hands.

Man so are we going for the trifecta of Everton Leicester and Southampton to go down?

haven't done the research, but i can't imagine there would have ever been a relegated group of 3 with so much PL tenure

Everton - 31 years

Leicester - 9 years

Southampton - 11 years

I will add, their cumulate total of seasons in the PL (31 seasons) are:

Everton - 31 season cumulative

Leicester - 17 seasons cumulative

Southampton - 24 seasons cumulative

It's absolutely not a given. It's just battered fan syndrome. Competent squad building can take down City, it's already happened once.

everton hasn't been relegated from the top flight since the 1950-1951 season.

i mean it *can* happen, but you're going to have to accrue 90+ points most years to make it happen. how many clubs in any given year can even dream of that? 1-2 is probably the answer. and again, whenever those 1-2 clubs have injuries or players having a down season it impacts them twice as much as it would City. City is damn near UCONN women, UCLA, Boston Celtics type of "just pencil them in" dominance.

I mean it literally took the greatest premier league season in history but sure it just takes competent squad building

liverpool getting 97 points or whatever and not winning is just tragic. hendo is one of their key players, meanwhile City has 20 guys better than him lol.

Great with a deep squad isn’t enough. You have to be damn near perfect.

Arsenal would have needed 95 points (or 94 with a cyborg scoring 55 goals) to win this year. In other words:

1. The fifth best point total in PL history.

2. More than every ManUre title winner.

3. More than every Arsenal title winner.

4. More than every Chelsea title winner except 2004-5, who also finished on 95.

So stupid to have so many shirt sponsors for betting books and then half the video boards are betting sites and then get all crazy or surprised when a guy gets in trouble for something related to betting. A generation ago there was a sportsbook in like very third building of a shopping street in every neighborhood in London, its nothing new over there.

Anyone that believes in themselves and shows up to work with a positive attitude can finish on 95 points. I guess Arsenal just wasn't doing those things.

God damn, Tottenham seriously sucks right now. They’re probably going to help Leeds avoid relegation next week.

Tottenham haven't been able to handle a high press since Bentacur got injured. Thomas Frank apparently finally got around to watching the Villa game at halftime.

#1934

Mbuemo and Wissa played like they had a lot at stake, like a loss would be financially devastating for them and for Brentford. Tottenham probably took the first half options and reached their goal of being the first team to score and having the lead at the half.

Brentford made adjustments at halftime. They pressed high up the field and played wider. They dared Tottenham's midfield to progress the ball. That was basically the Aston Villa game.

Leeds is going to have to win at least one of their last two. Unless they can catch Everton on GD.

I think the card was for dissent but yeah it was a terrible no-call

And even if he completely missed seeing it, it should have been buzzed for VAR

Two Leeds draws and a one goal Everton loss would put them even on points and GD, with Leeds currently 13 ahead in goals scored.

If you add Leceister winning one and losing one in their last two to this scenario, all 3 would finish with 33 points and Leceister would likely stay up on GD.
