I’ve done some pretty stupid stuff in Jon boats in my youth but this guy is off the charts. If you follow the Texas Water Safari, you’ll recognize the name as Robert Youens attempts to break the Great Loop speed record (a little over 19days) using a 16’ jonboat with a 60hp Tohatsu and 84 gallons of fuel capacity.
He did a 420 mile direct route across the Gulf from Pensacola to Ft Myers yesterday, passed through Ochochobee Waterway today and is off the beach headed north right now. He has a couple of great informative posts on his FB page and the Great Loop FB page.

How the fuck do you not see the aircraft carrier right in front of you?

The dumbass at the helm is Frank D’Anna, who’s a back-to-back winner of the Bisbee’s tournament

An aircraft carrier that hasn’t moved in decades.

100K damage to Midway? Seems like a warship might be able to withstand a glancing blow like that with minimum damage - like paint. If it really bent some steel plates than that would be a shock

Clearly you aren't an insurance adjuster...

Anyone rebuilt or had rebuilt a SeaStar Hydraulic helm pump? I have the HH5371-1 1.7 cu/rev pump and it’s sucking air and leaking oil pretty bad. Its had a small leak for a year or so but it really let loose last weekend and has about 1/3 of a rev backlash. I found a place in Ca called Seatech Marine Products that will do a rebuild for $200 using your old pump. Anyone ever used them or had one rebuilt here in Tx?

Got to test drive a 2025 Nautique G23 today here at Canyon Lake.  What an absolute unit --

Not a fan of the interior color at all, but this was just a demo.

This is the boat that I'll swap up to if the trigger gets pulled --

I really wanted to blast the Hawaii 5-0 theme while he was running that beast.

Bad pics but can anyone help me identify this make and model? Enjoyed watching it as we were cleaning up our boat and when we got home.

Never had to reseal the helm but have had the cylinder done a couple of times at a couple different shops (2x in last 15 years).   I would guess a competent shop could handle it?   The rebuild kit looks to be a dozen o-rings and new stainless hardware to button it back up - shouldn't be a terrible job I wouldn't think.

I like that spec a lot. I don’t think I could actually pull the trigger and buy it but it looks bad ass. The green and tan is slick as well

A 60-foot sportfishing boat bumped into the USS Midway Friday afternoon, and the captain was later arrested on suspicion of boating while under the influence, a Harbor Police official said.

The incident happened about 12:45 p.m., Sgt. Armando Ramirez said. He said the collision caught the attention of several people near the Unconditional Surrender statue, an homage to the iconic photo of a sailor kissing a nurse to celebrate the end of World War II. It sits near the aircraft carrier, which is now a museum

“We got calls from witnesses,” Ramirez said. “It made a lot of noise when it collided.”

He said the aircraft carrier museum did not appear to sustain significant damage.

The fishing boat left the scene, the sergeant said. Harbor police intercepted it near the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. No one on the boat was injured. He said the boat sustained minor damage but it had not been taking on water.

The collision attracted more attention soon after it happened, following an X post from WarshipCam, which posted video that shows the boat approaching the carrier.

Agree it’s definitely a Sea Ray

Just got back from a week of island hopping down the Exumas. Did the BVI’s last year, rented from the Moorings ( 403 Power Cat) both times. If you love boats & the water , y’all should definitely put it on your list. Family has loved both locations.

My cousin at NXTLVL  isn't playing fair.  He just sent this to me from Lake Travis -

Finally getting the cradle installed in our boat stall, in the next 10 days or so. We are gonna have to ease up, or we are gonna be 150 hours a summer on the engine.

Son has a buddy that owns the local concrete plant. Bought a Paragon. $600k boat. It’s nice, but not “four of my boats” nice.

Done the BVIs twice on a sailing cat it was great. Highly recommend.

Today's a big day for us.  We have been working with a potential buyer for our Cruisers Yacht and we're getting the boat lifted out of Travis today for an inspection.  The buyer is from Arizona and flew in for a test drive and liked what they saw.  Wish us luck!

Pricing is insane.

We bought our ski nautique brand new from boat town in 1984 for $12500 with a trailer and deluxe interior. I was at the Austin boat show 5-6 years ago I guess and a G25 Paragon was like 325k and I thought that was insane.

I just wouldn’t (and can’t) spend that kind of money on a boat. Give me a used 50k Supra or Malibu and I’ll put the other 550k in my pocket and have the same amount of fun. Actually I’d have more fun because the 600k boat is probably just put in my living room and look at it.

The exumas are amazing and you picked a great time to go. Shroud Cay (mangrove creek going from banks to ocean side) is among the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Yep, cruising thru the mangroves & bailing out to swim with the turtles was my kids favorite thing on the trip. We were lucky and had the beach all to ourselves.

If I paid $600k, for a boat, it would have to, at least make it's own payment. Through saltwater charter more than likely. If I paid $600k, I would be in full, "hey, motherfucker, where is the fighting chair?" mode.

I think 600K for a Paragon has to be hyperbole.

or someone got ass raped.

And thats not to say the cost of a Paragon is anything close to rational.

This was my thought. A fully optioned G25 MSRP may get in that range, but no one should be paying that. However, my next thought was whether it made a difference if they said $450k, $500k, etc. the whole thing is just nuts.

I’ve owned a lot of wake boats over the years. The biggest check I ever wrote for one was $115k on a brand new 210 right around Covid. I kept it about a year and got rid of it because I didn’t enjoy having it. I worried about boards hitting the sides, I worried about the kids messing the seats up, I didn’t want to pull into the beach, it just wasn’t fun.

One thing the pricing has done has really screwed up the used market. I got together with my nephews a couple of weeks ago to look at picking something for them I could use occasionally. I used to be able to pick up a 205 for $10k-$12k every other year or something newer in the low $20’s. It doesn’t look that way any more.

Re new prices impacting used …

We’re well in the equity on an often used 2018 axis that’s on a 15 year note. At the current new prices I’m not sure we will ever be upside down.

We rented a Catalina 36 (ironically the same boat I have) almost 30 years ago on our honeymoon for a week on the BVIs. Awesome trip

Second AK trip of the year is in the books.  Pics in order are bombing down Chatham Strait on the prettiest day ever, at anchor in Basket Bay on Chichagof Island for sockeye fishing, anchored for the night in Sitkoh Bay on Chichagof, fishing in Peril Strait between Baranof and Chichagof, waterfall in Endicott Arm, and fishing the Golden North Salmon Derby in northern Stephens Passage during ass weather at the end of the trip.  Highlights are always more fun, but I also had some fairly terrible 2.5s duration 4’ waves in 25 knot winds.

No thanks, I insist on buying all my yachts new, and I'd certainly never settle for anything under 150m.

MAN engines? I know nothing about Princess boats except that Viking helped market them in the U.S. and made some modifications for the American market but quite a bit about the MANs.

Good. While I love MANs they are pricy to service and for cruising applications CAT is a much, much better platform. I’m sure you know this but if you decide to make an offer be sure to hire a good boat surveyor. Boats that size are a ton of fun but a lot of work and maintenance expense. Still wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Sound advice.

My German cousins, of whom I have spoken of in other threads, have done work for Abeking & Rasmussen as well as Lürssen, building paint room things, and say that the huge yacht world is an amazing world in which to wander.

Yeah, that world is a distant one from my 14’ Glasspar 60 years ago….
