A lot of this sounds like the same generic shit that comes out about every manager that gets fired, so it's hard for me to put much stock in it. At the same time, The Athletic's reporting is usually pretty good, so Idk.

I mean... you could see all of this on the pitch. What is there to not believe?

I suppose I'm not doubting the credibility of the reporting, but I'm skeptical of the extent that he had truly lost the locker room and how much that actually contributed to his downfall.

Tuchel certainly had his issues in the end, but there are some early signs of a meddling owner who doesn’t understand the game. Boehly needs to get right structure in place (sporting director, etc.) and step back a bit.

Guessing a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 with Reece either playing back or mid.

I'm intrigued. Never a fan of playing Kepa, but otherwise feels very offensive minded.

4-2-3-1

I forgot we could line up like that.

Cross the fucking ball. And fuck Havertz, don't swing and miss at point blank.

Cucurella could've easily cut off the passing lane. Jogging back without a care in the world.

Finally started sending crosses in at the end of the game. Astonishingly enough, they had their best chances.

Stretches for most of the second half where they were content passing the fucking ball around the 18 and never ever threatening with crosses. You see attackers trying to make runs the but assholes with the ball never looked at crossing the balls.

On one cross in the first half, it was beautifully played across the box. All Havertz needed to do was make a back post run. He just fucking stood there.

Ziyech with some WTF moments, especially that nice diagonal ball from Puli to the back post and the whiff on the cross at the end of the game.

This team steps on their own dicks all the fucking time.

This team couldn’t score in a whorehouse. Been a problem for over a year now and no sign of improvement.

The team seems to lack heart and leadership but will see where we go from here.

I wasn't able to watch a whole lot. From what I saw they seemed to press the issue and play a bit more direct - but the formation does that somewhat by default.

That goal we surrendered was terrible. Silva played it okay but got unlucky. Azpi got cooked. No help in the box.

Effort too. On the Salzburg goal, Chelsea had 4 back against 2 attackers. Silva with a WTF tackle. Cucurella basically stopped running once he got in the 18 and let the dude cross the ball right through where he would've been had he kept running.

If I were Potter, I'd show the last 15 mins where they were crossing the ball and threatening vs the whole 2nd half before it where they didn't do shit with the ball outside the 18. Then I would show them Havertz standing there in the 18 while a beautiful ball crosses right where he would've been had he made a run, like attackers are supposed to fucking do. And then I would show the whole fucking sequence leading to the goal to show that most Chelsea players were lollygagging. There's no effort.

Yup, the team is lazy and has no heart. I love Thiago but he laid an egg on that one.

Atleast our group as a whole is all over the fucking place.

With the player exits and some of the statements by players, it seems like Tuchel played stupid mind games with the players and was a just an asshole. Yes the team did well in the cups but I tend to think it was in spite of him and his bullshit rather than because of him.

Anyone actually surprised with this hasn't paid attention to how a subset of managers work in the world of soccer.

Mourinho was the same way. Conte to an extent (but I think more with management).

Now this would've been a much more interesting story if it had dropped and Tuchel was still the manager.

Past that I do find it interesting an athlete in the prime of his career is dropping a book.

  • 2 weeks later...

7 minutes in and Chelsea already taking a shit on my weekend.  Thanks, lads.

Damn, now that was NICE

This could really be 4-1 for Chelsea right now.  Keep the chances coming.

I really want to see Sterling and Pulisic on the field together more, they're the two guys who will run at defenders and get them to backpedal out of their press/trap.

Unable to watch but what a fucking goal from the subs!

Man we are just dominating this game. Been a while since I've seen us boss a game like this.

Did anyone see the Fofana injury? Any early indications of how serious it is?

Looked minor, but this is all we have right now. Doesn't look great.

I'll be tuned in for the first half.

Interesting lineup - no proper 9. Wonder if Potter is still trying to see some different looks or it's a tactical decision vs Wolves.

Who is this chick that I paid extra to hear talk during this match?

I'm on my first cocktail blasting Travis Scott with the game on low volume.

I'm quickly becoming a big Gallagher fan. Kid has moxie.

Yeah, Gallagher's a player.  Hopefully we'll develop him and keep him rather than selling him.

Jorginho just play it back out to Mase or CP... why are we forcing it in the 10th min.

Need to attack the middle of the pitch more. Also Pulisic needs to quit turning the ball over.

Pretty good long range shot then a peach of a cross from Dave that Puli was just a little late on.  Starting to get some good looks.

Loving our possession in and around the box.

Fuck me Azpi.

Honestly that was on Jorg... piss poor defending at midfield.

We could be sharper in front of goal but they're honestly playing pretty phenomenal on-ball D.

Damn Pulisic hasn't been good but that was a great strike.

New manager and we're still fucking around with the Kai at 9 shit. Auba or Broja on the pitch I feel like we have one in the back of the net.
