FYI - it does look like GA outfield "jungle" tickets are already on sale for around $150 on StubHub

Thinking about driving down from Virginia with my 2 year old - it would be his first sporting event ever.  I can't decide if it is a great idea or a terrible idea - probably both.

It is a great idea.

So this is a twitter only event? Well whatever. Just tell us when we play, we know where.

It's going to be a stiiiiiicky pair of afternoons down in the Tidewater. Scattered thunderstorms could also be a problem.

Noon on Friday? Geez NCAA. What are you doing?

Well maybe it is good we aren't playing this thing in Austin after all.

@Fletch is going to sleep through the entire Super Regional.

NCAA ensures Texas baseball will not overlap with Texas Softball for a potential game 3 of the WCWS finale (7:30pm Friday) if that game is needed.

They also did the same for OU (mid-afternoon game) on Friday

It is 11 AM Central Time baseball brunch on both days. That's probably good for the visiting team though.

Oh please oh please let that potential game be played.

I don't think the world would be very shocked.

I pulled those off wikipedia so accuracy is not guaranteed

Yeah I looked a few different places and they all had different numbers. I got the 400 using google maps' measuring tool, so I have no idea how accurate that is either.

I got:

- RF & LF down the line: ~325 (~15' shorter than the Disch in LF, about the same in RF)

- straight away LF & RF: ~340 (~20' shorter in LF & 10' shorter in RF)

- straight away CF: ~400

- LF gap: ~375 (about the same as DF)

- RF gap: ~370-375 (maybe a couple feet shorter than DF)

Down the LF line & straight away LF are gonna be very inviting.

That's all well and good, but do we have any players who can go deep to left? 😁

Can't think of any off the top of my head lol.

And ECU has hit 71 homers compared to 118 for us in a bigger park. Might not amount to much, but then again it might.

OU fans REALLY care about their Softball dynasty. So they would be shocked. And appalled. And really that is what matters.

And what's the height of that outfield fence?  it looks like it is maybe 6 feet?

Of course, they don't have the low fence like we do in LF.

This.
Hell, beating OSU was pretty much a shock.

TBH, considering this OU team, I would also be shocked.  But weirder things have happened.

I would walk that OU home run hitter every time she comes up.

They did ask about this - Mike White said that's not how he plays the game.

High and inside 4 straight pitches.

This doesn't really work with OU's lineup anyways.

Everyone in their lineup can hit home runs. Best thing you can do is just limit base runners and hope they hit a few solo HRs.

I thought when we said "2-0," that was referencing our W-L against ECU.  I wasn't referencing the softball team.

I don't think beating East Carolina in two games would be a shock.

Doing that and winning the softball tournament obviously would be.

She looks like Cecil Fielder up there cranking shit out

Was Cecil that big?

This is what I noticed from ECU's stats.

They really approach their pitching differently from most teams but it's because they don't have a dominant starter. Interested to see how this pitching by committee approach works against Texas.

Texas needs to be prepared for 4 to 6 pitchers each game because that's what ECU likes to do.

Edited by Rickylovesweed

Also, I just realized why ECU is having to do this pitching by committee thing this season.

Their ace Carson Whisenhunt is injured. Projected top 30 pick in some earlier mock drafts.

Yeah, in the context of the post I quoted we were talking about a potential WCWS Game 3.

Softball talk in Super Regional thread(?) not going away.
