What would you devise as a basic strategy for learning this for a fan of sports, but not necessarily soccer? Wanting to learn the international angles/ rivalries, as well as the players to watch.  maybe coaches too.

I am sincerely asking and not bullshitting.  i know there are some very passionate fans on here who love the sport.  I have admittedly stirred the pot in the past with regard to soccer, and that is not my intent going forward.
