I drove through SM the other day on the way to Schlitterbahn.  It's changed a ton since I was there when it was SWT.  I loved my time there.

Told my wife I hardly recognized it.

It would also be a goldmine if you were wanting to start a porn studio.

Didn't tell my wife that.

Why is she looking for a side hustle?

There are a lot of groups getting ready to fight it. That and the logistics hub out at the San Marcos Airport.

Fun times.....

And that's not even counting all of the individual apartments in SM that serve as "studios" for Onlyfans accounts.

San Marcos has an airport?

There is lots of work for developer/studio team to do but there is nothing left to fight... they have the entitlements. They should have permits in the next 60-days.

As an employee of a studio, I can say this is exactly correct. Without the 20%-30% tax credits, productions won’t come to use the sound stages.

Yep.  Georgia's growth in the film industry is all because of the tax cuts.   Pretty much killed the film industry in Louisiana.

In one interview I read, they asked Taylor Sheridan why he didn't film "Hell or High Water" in Texas.  He said he wanted to but it was much cheaper to film it in NM.

Was talking with a geologist and there may be an issue over caves so final plan has to be approved by Local, County and State. I am sure it will happen, but I expect some push back.

Yep, a pretty nice one. I advise a company based there on their Africa aid work.

Museum is fun. It was where they trained for the Doolittle Raid.

Well boys, looks like days on here are numbered, as my dreams of becoming a big-time movie star are one step closer to fruition.

If y'all are ever in SM, contact my agent and maybe we can grab a beer.

All my love and thanks for all your support!

I shit you not I’m at the Westin Michigan Avenue bar. Three young guys in suits drinking next to me and I hear “between Austin and San Antonio.”

Ears prick up. “Fuck it, I buy it and park RVs on it until time to sell.” Some more discussion, obviously one dude from Texas. Wondering if I should ask about his San Marcos interest.

Check comes, they leave, I read this thread.

Your professional resume of "like Ned Beatty, but not as handsome" is a lock for success.

Sounds like you need an attorney/agent to help spend 15% of your money.....

Think of all they money they'd have saved their coeds in airfare if they'd only built one sooner.

It's not just tax breaks for NM. Albuquerque is a 12 hour drive from LA/Burbank, so they can still use the same equipment houses in CA and have anything they need in NM the next morning. Lighting techs, sound techs, cameras, all the other people/stuff they use can be there the next morning. Shuttling equipment and crews in and out is really easy.

It's a looooong fucking drive to get any of that shit to San Marcos, which means you'll have to have that stuff on site, or close. That means building out a huge supporting industry that currently doesn't exist.

New Mexico also has just about every geography/ecosystem that exists in the US, aside from beach/swamps, within a 4 hour drive of Albuquerque.
