Many sure as well won't be excited.

The MAGA in my family are losing a bit of steam. Granted, about half my family is rural and of that, putting aside the olds, a lot of them are either in agriculture or rely upon it on some way (bank employees, auto dealers, etc. in the surrounding areas). DOGE really fucked around with some of them - I don't think they paid attention to who was buying their product down the line in the past. Of course, they don't grumble about Trump, but instead about Leon, but I like to remind some of them who put Leon in there, and that if Vance's crew get their way, DOGE will be nothing compared to what they will do. And that's before tariffs really take their toll.
September 7Sep 7 Quote “I have heard nothing from the DoJ and they have provided me no updates to give to my clients. I have even sent a letter to the committee chair volunteering to speak with them about the original investigation and litigation. This letter was completely ignored,” Kuvin said. “It is appalling that the federal government is again failing to keep the victims at the center of this investigation. Instead, it appears that all the government is interested in is attempting to whitewash the prior investigation.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/sep/07/epstein-files-survivors-trump-justice-department Quote “Not only has the DoJ refused to engage survivors, but they obstructed routine and valid requests for information. In January 2025, in response to a basic Foia [Freedom of Information Act] request, the government informed us that they would respond by November 2027 – nearly three years later. That’s abysmal and completely unacceptable.”

It's barely in the news today because the lunatic president declared that Chicago was soon going to find out why the Department of Defense has been renamed the Department of War. Also, just last week, the president and his family cashed in to the tune of billions in their latest cryptocurrency scheme. All the while, the economy teeters on ruin, not because of anything cyclical or remotely normal, but all due to the utter insanity of this stupid, thoroughly corrupt piece of shit that is constantly granted more power by the Supreme Court and a lapdog Congress. 40% of people, give or take, still support this. Anybody want to attempt to minimize this shit and tell me I'm over reacting? Any of you DTs safe space punks want to offer why you're still in that 40% of core support?

I told him that if the daughter winds up with polio or some lifetime disabling disease that someone needs to give dad the Mussolini treatment. He instantly got offended and said he was a good man. He was just not smart in the ways of vaccines. I said that’s the problem with you MAGAs - you literally will forgive someone destroying his daughter‘s life or killing her because he refuses to educate himself on a topic where he knows there are two sides. I guess he falls into the category of people you don’t necessarily respect that much, but have known for 50 years. Well, I know him, but I’m no longer going to interact with him. Not surprisingly, I’m one of the few people who will still talk to him - other than his friends at church who hate the crime inclined Mexicans - and who are deathly afraid of trans people. Like Jesus said to do. edit: I know this is not the vaccine thread, but my post was in a response to the issue of people being not as bad due to stupidity instead of moral cowardice. I don’t care why you support things that will cause other people to be injured and or die unnecessarily. If you support those things then decent people should tell you -“You are not one of the decent people. Go live your life amongst the scum. You do not deserve the friendship of decent people.” I have moved to the realization that not shaming people for their loathsome views is actually rewarding and enabling them - as going on with their life without consequences of any kind for their beliefs is actually the decent people enabling their views via a lack of condemnation. Texas rancher/oil patch bum grandfather ever had for me: "You know, old Brisket's gonna do alright. He's smart enough to know how dumb he is." That is a central element of success in this world. Be smart enough to know how dumb you are. I educated myself with my electrocardiologist. I worked to understand the procedure he recommended, and he did a good job explaining it. But at the end of that conversation, he was still the expert with 1,500 of these procedures under his belt, and I was just another dude with an electrical issue with my heart. It came down to "if this was you, would you undergo the procedure?", and deferring to his expertise. Like I defer to the pilot's expertise every time I get on a plane, etc. etc. I'm a smart enough guy. But I'm also smart enough to know that what one gains through years of education and decades of experience can't be replicated by a few hours of watching fucking Youtube videos by some fucking quack. That intelligence/wisdom apparently puts me at the upper echelon of American thinking these days. And if that is true....dear god is this country fucked, because as smart as I am, I'm still a fucking idiot.

When you've reached our age, generally you've encountered people who have fucked around and found out, whether it be skipping the shingles vaccine or whatever. And assuming you are 40s/50s, you may have even known people who were affected by polio (generally an old relative or friend's parents/aunt/uncle/etc.). So we tend to listen to the experts, because we have built up a healthy first-hand knowledge of shit going sideways for people.

September 11Sep 11 Goddamn, even the UK is taking the Epstein files more seriously than the Party https://edition.cnn.com/2025/09/11/uk/peter-mandelson-uk-ambassador-fired-intl London — Peter Mandelson was fired as Britain’s ambassador to the United States on Thursday after his ties to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became another unwelcome problem for the embattled Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Mandelson had been under mounting pressure over his relationship with Epstein after US lawmakers on Monday released a “birthday book,” compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003, in which the veteran Labour party politician had penned a handwritten note describing Epstein as “my best pal.” Despite the revelation, Starmer forcefully defended his ambassador on Wednesday, telling parliament that Mandelson had his “full confidence.” Hours later, the scandal snowballed after Bloomberg published a trove of emails between Mandelson and Epstein, in which Mandelson expressed support for his friend and offered to discuss his infamous 2008 Florida case with his political contacts. Epstein pleaded guilty to two state prostitution charges and served 13 months in prison after a controversial plea deal. But the emails obtained by Bloomberg showed that Mandelson continued to support Epstein after that conviction.
September 16Sep 16 Gonna have to send that to some folks I know and ask them why Epstein was arrested and died under Trump's DOJ if he wasn't trafficking anybody.
September 16Sep 16 Also of note, there's going to be a lot of really pissed off victims who are going to be doing a lot more interviews, not to mention more documents and emails coming out. The Trump administration does not understand the Barbara Streisand effect. Poor Venezuela, we hardly knew ya.
September 17Sep 17 "You've seen most of the files. Who if anyone did Epstein traffic these young women to, besides himself?" Kennedy asked Patel. Patel responded, "Himself. There is no credible information, none. If there were I would bring the case yesterday that he trafficked to other individuals. And the information we have, again, is limited." Kennedy followed up, "So the answer is no one?" The FBI director responded, "For the information that we have. In the case files." FBI Director Kash Patel, on Tuesday: "I know there's a lot of talk about Epstein, and I'm here to testify that the original sin in the Epstein case was the way it was initially brought by Mr. Acosta back in 2006. The original case involved a very limited search warrant, or set of search warrants, and didn't take as much investigatory material as it should have seized. If I were FBI director back then, it wouldn't have happened." President Donald Trump, on Truth Social on September 5: "The now dying (after the DOJ gave thousands of pages of documents in full compliance with a very comprehensive and exacting Subpoena from Congress!) Epstein case was only brought back to life by the Radical Left Democrats because they are doing so poorly, with the lowest poll numbers in the history of the Party (16 percent), while the Republicans are doing so well, among the highest approval numbers the Party has ever had!"
