Obama and Hillary created the list that doesn't actually exist.

Meh, the Dems had the chance to release this information quite recently and declined. This is exactly what someone who diddled kids at Epstein island would say.

The most fascinating thing to me about these past few days is that if they wanted this story to go away, he and Bondi decided to do the exact opposite, and we re seeing both the “Streisand Effect” and a the perfect example of “gaslighting” happening at the exact same moment.

I also like that he lumped Hunter Biden’s laptop in with the hoaxes.

These are literally things that more than a few MAGA or MAGA-adjacent types really give a shit about for some reason, and that helped drive a major conspiracy movement (Q/Qanons) and he’s telling them to forget about it, that it’s nothing, and if they believe it, they are a part of the leftist conspiracy against him.

Epstein killed himself in 2019. By your “norms” standard the only person involved was dead for 4 years when the current administration took over. Thats if we believe that there was a secret party island for the elites covered in cameras where minors were being sex trafficked for just Epstein himself.

That seems unlikely to me, but I don’t think we’ll ever know

Generally, you don't disclose factual material underlying investigations and prosecutions until constitutional requirements mandate disclosure to the defendant.

For uncharged parties, you don't disclose material that might incriminate them because they have no forum in which to defend themselves.

Well, Maga or not, the broader conspiracy theory presence is very real and generates a shit ton of traffic/feed/attention. (Sadly)

There is NOTHING to compel any conspiracy theory rumors better than the death of a very high profile person. Right now, team Maga has the cover of Epstein's "suicide" occurring under Biden. That cover goes away real fast if she dies. Frankly, while I will never pull for someone, anyone, to be silenced, it if should occur, I certainly won't shed tears. However, it will stir a hornets nest in that particular "community" and I don't think that bodes well for anyone "involved".

Just throwing that poop on the wall but.. I think it really is a factor.

Which brings us right back to the supposition that Epstein was the only person abusing underage girls at his party place. I don’t think that’s likely.

I mentioned there being no reason to withhold information unless there’s an ongoing investigation, and find is hard to believe that they’re still looking into it. And I agree that you don’t name names unless they’re being charged. I just don’t think that it’s anywhere near as clean as Epstein acting alone.

One administration literally campaigned on exposing the Epstein scandal and promised answers to their base, and now they are doing everything in their power to make it go away.

While all dead-on true, this does not address the reasons why nobody was charged.   The Biden people were naive enough not to charge Trump for political optics of the new president charging the former president.  Wankers.  Or the Clinton thing made it a non-starter.   But even that is not a reason to NOT charge anybody else involved not named Trump or Clinton - if you can destroy all but certain evidence against certain people that is.*

Nobody is going to come clean, as the “but….I had sex with fewer minor girls than those other guys did” defense won’t likely be a successful one.

(* And I’m sure the US never had any back channel communication with Great Britain where the UK government told us it did not really wanna see a Royal Prince involved in a pedophile scandal for the good of the nation, thank you very much, old chap.  Wink, wink, nudge, nudge - say no more.)

I agree with this comment from the second page of this thread, so why are you silent now?

For the life of me, I can't understand why--after so much caterwauling for so long--they don't want it released now.

@statsman, as the thread's OP, it's kind of odd you haven't posted on the topic lately. Did you lose interest in the case?

Well, most of my posts in this thread were about Kimmel and Rodgers slap fight so I am not exactly sure what the fuck you are babbling about.   Unsurprisingly,  you don't either.

It was very important to him until he heard it was just files made up by Obama, Comey, and Biden.

No, I try not to post in DT. Besides the ad hominem and appeals to authority, there are (as you well know) plenty of posters that try to win arguments by crying to mods about “shit posting” when they don’t like what someone is saying. On another thread, I got a one week ban for linking a WSJ op-ed (Immamac said it was “shit posting”; I guess I should have waited a couple of days for the news story). I don’t feel like responding in kind, so I find DT interesting to read, but not good for engaging.

Same.

Also, just realized this is DT.... great news/non-political thread is great.

“Boo hoo - my hypocrisy and political shit fit was thrown in my face (gasp) in DT! How dare you bring politics into a news story where countless administration officials and the attorney general claimed for months that THIS was the biggest scandal in government only to turn tail and hide bc the President changed his mind”

Yeah, I hear you. Surely there’s a non-political way to discuss such news. Also, who even cares anymore? Amirite

It is absolutely news that the House Rules Committee voted against releasing the files. There's no opinion or editorializing in my post. I'm just puzzled why you guys lost interest.

I'm sorry that this news is so upsetting.

Trump and his AG publicly ordered it covered up and for his followers to stop talking about it, and Republican-led House Rules Committee in Congress voted against releasing the files.  Those are facts and news.

Honestly, we should be talking about his followers that are freaking out over it.  They are entertaining as hell as they are being gaslighted by the man himself, while at the same time their identity was wrapped up in exposing Epstein's client lists, etc.

Very, very newsy.

Dumb And Dumber GIF

Assuming the files are criminal in nature, ie evidence seized using search warrants, pursuant to grand jury subpoena and other criminal processes, they would be in the sole control of the DOJ.

HoR ain't got nothin to do with it unless they somehow obtained copies, which a norm-following DOJ would resist for the same reason it doesn't make such files publicly available.

So, unnecessary grandstanding by House Rules Committee.

4 minutes ago, TwiceHorn said:

You really have to wonder why they decided to have that vote, because A) it provides fodder to those that want it released and believe there is a cover-up, and B) it's drawing more attention to said files being covered up.
