Honored to get to start a thread.

Watching the time trial right now.  Pouring rain.  I'm lucky because, as a teacher, I'm always off this time of year and have plenty of time to enjoy the race.

7 Americans in this year.  I'm not sure if any of them are anything other than domestiques, but I'm curious as to if Jumbo would designate Kuss as the leader if something happened to Roglic.

  • Did a Spandelles and Aubisque double years ago, from the opposite direction today. Spandelles was supposed to be the easy warm up with a 5.5% avg gradient. What that ended up with was a km of 3% then

I think the people with the flares piss me off almost as much as anyone. Can you imagine struggling for air going up a 10% climb and sucking in a lung full of that crap.

  • I don't know how I missed that...  outstanding!

The Tour gets me through the dogs days of summer. Can't wait for the hilly and mountain stages starting on 7/5.

The first day of the tour is always a great day.

Vingegaard is their other gc contender. They'd both have to go down for kuss to get the love.

Congratulations on the three weeks everyone else will pay attention to cycling

Wasn't clear on the broadcast, did Uran's group catch back up down the bridge totally on their own, or did the peloton slow to allow them back in?

Got a Talladega, but bummed that we won't have Adam Blythe's humor on the motorbike.

Rigo had to have Bisseger pace him back on full tilt.

Goddamn this is wholesome as fuck. Love Magnus

Got damn, Wout!  Well done, JV.

I was just coming to post the same thing. That was a hell of a finish by him. So good.

Wout is a beast, that was an amazing effort.

Rangers fan. Baseball kills my will to live during July as we're already 30 games out.

Rangers fan (I guess) as well. Saw Nolan’s 7th no-hitter from start to finish from the front 10 rows of the outfield and watched Juan González hit 4 dingers in a ~20-4 first home night game of the season back in ‘91 or so…

But baseball is mind-numbingly boring until the playoffs. 162 fucking games just to get to the games that actually matter…

Was a hoping a trailing domestique would stop and go all Joey Chestnut on those idiot fans that released that cloud of yellow dust into the peloton.

Can't understand Nicolas Roche half the time with his low mumbling.

This route seems really terrible. Cobbles in one part, dirt path on the other. Spectators get a face full of dirt.

love these cobbles, but has to be murder on these guys

By terrible I assume you mean awesome.

Pogacar is just right there, lurking. Hopefully we get some good mountain finishes on Friday and Sunday like we had last year.

Pogacar is just toying with folks.  At the appropriate time, he will simply ride off from the group.

Just flipped it on...here goes Wout again, freak.

I was just coming to ask if he can hang on to this lead today. RIght now 55 second lead with 21.7 KM to go.

Not sure if he can hang on, but the end of this stage has  3 or 4 climbs in a row, so who knows.

Nah, he's not going to do it. It's starting to get touchy out there now. Let's see if we can see Powless take Yellow today.

Lulz, Roglic tried to take it and then looked like he was standing still when Pogacar blew by him.

Pogacar with that final burst is always fun to watch.

Damn. Not sure I see Pogacar being out of yellow the rest of the way.

Me neither.

Yep, barring a disaster of some sort, the Tour is over.

Hard to understand what Van Aert was thinking. He should have stayed with the peloton. He'd still be in yellow. He lost more than seven minutes today. Mad respect for Roglic out there with a dislocated shoulder. Holy crap that's got to hurt.

He dropped on purposed to give TJV tactical flexibility going forward. He wasn't going to be in yellow up Planche de Belles Filles

Pogacar humiliated Jumbo today.  I think the Van Aert side show will always cost Jumbo any chance at the yellow jersey.  What the fuck is Jumbo thinking coming in trying to protect 2 riders AND chase the green jersey…..AND spend all their energy trying to get WVA into that pointless break today.

Jumbo needs to focus the strongest team in the world on one thing if they want to win the tour - beating Pogacar.  They still might not be able to because Pogacar is one of the best talents ever to come along, but they sure won’t be able to with the poor team management.

Jumbo must have realized they can’t beat Pogacar, so now they are just using WVA for all the exposure they can get.

Another good day for Neilson Powless.  I can see why Beano Cook predicted he'd win 2 TdF's.

LOL - Nielson is great, but he’s not winning 2 tours anytime soon.  UAE may “give” him the jersey tomorrow just so that they don’t have to deal with it, but it will be taken back in cruel fashion later on in the race.

I mean that's all great in theory, but it requires being able to have someone crack Pog. The fundamentals really haven't changed for Jumbo. Either Vinegaard can break him in the high mountains or he can't, that's basically it. Jumbo driving a train up the mountain isn't going to do anything because it won't stretch Pog in the least.

I can't tell if he let up to let Pogacar win or if Pogacar just muscled his way through.

Aww poor Kamna.

Vinegaard looked better than I anticipated. Yates much worse.

Bummed for Nairoman.

Ah poor guy. He almost had it but couldn't push that final couple of seconds.

Pogacar muscled his way to the win. Vingegaard wanted and needed that time bonus.
