Best- Bull Durham

Worst- Robin Hood (couldn't even be bothered to use an accent)

Fandango!

Edward Norton
Best- Primal Fear
Worst- The Incredible Hulk

He’s incredible in American History X. Primal Fear was a little Law & Ordery.

I definitely enjoyed AHX.  It’s easily a better overall movie.
I thought and still think he did an incredible job in Primal Fear.

He's just a great actor.

worst: Rubber face (look it up)

Best - Dallas Buyers Club

Worst - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiptoes

Best - True Detective, because time is a flat circle.

Worst  - Sahara.   Close 2nd, all the crap romantic comedies he's done. {wedding planner, how to lose a guy, ghost of girfriend's past, etc}

Best - Fandango (damn he was born for that role)

Worst - Waterworld

Think worst has to go to Robin Hood. I don't think I've ever seen an actor just give up on an accent mid-movie before.

Ed Norton in Italian Job was a mail-in job of the highest order.  That’s the worst I’ve seen of him.  I guess best is American History X.  I think Primal Fear didn’t age well.  Too M Night Shamamama.

Robert Duvall

Best: All of them

Worst: None of them

Some highlights would be:

  • The Apostle
  • The Godfather I & II
  • Lonesome Dove
  • Apocalypse Now
  • Tender Mercies
  • The Great Santini
  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Sling Blade
  • True Grit

Robert Duvall in a movie is like your grandad telling you a story.  Some are more grown up stories than others.

Robert Duvall has been in a shitty movie or two but he acted his ass off in all of them.

My favorite, may be Apostle E F I. The Apostle.

Leo's best for me, is probably Catch Me If You Can.  That's the movie that made me do a 180 on him, from hating him and thinking he sucked, to actually liking him.

His worst, for me, is pretty much everything he did before Catch Me If You Can.

My biggest delta from best to worst has to be Dan Aykroyd, though.

Best: Trading Places (awesome performance)

Worst:  tie between Caddyshack 2 and Nothing But Trouble.  These are both ten times worse than any performance by anyone else on the thread ever, including Steven Seagal.

I will fight you right now.

Except for Fool’s Gold. That’s a romantic comedy classic. Mainly because I’m in it. But a classic nonetheless.

Cruise (side note: he’s been really fucking good in a ton of things and is underrated as a serious actor)

Best: Rain Man

Worst: Rock of Ages

Tom Cruise is not underrated as a serious actor. He’s been nominated for an acting Oscar three fucking times. He is widely considered a really great actor. He just really likes making action movies. That’s his choice. He can do whatever the fuck he wants.

It's a long list, so I won't fault you for forgetting Open Range:

Bruce Campbell:

Best: Bubba Ho Tep

Worst: Any of Raimi super hero movie cameo’s

Kind of feel the same for Bill Murray

  • Caddyshack
  • Ghostbusters (all the originals)
  • Groundhog Day
  • Stripes
  • Tootsie
  • Scrooged
  • Little shop horrors
  • Kingpin
  • Zombie land
  • Lost in Translation
  • Royal Tenenbaums
  • All the SNL greats he was a part of.

And then he made Garfield......

Dan Akroyd:

Best- Great Outdoors, only movie I’ve ever found him funny in. He was good in Trading Places for sure but he didn’t carry the load like Great Outdoors.

IMO, best Norton performance was 25th hour.  Sucked me in.  I felt like I was that character for 2 hours.

Shockingly that film came right before Italian Job, which I agree, was a total mail in.

I think he was contractually compelled to do the Italian Job.

Seriously, Spicoli was a masterclass in acting. Which was that you couldnt tell he was acting at all.

Honorary mention to his work as a slimy lawyer in Carlito’s Way

Worst: I Am Sam. Went home empty-handed.

One could argue it was perfect for the role to be a dud. He had no imagination. Even had to copy from others what he’d do with the gold money.

It’s like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix. The dumb look on his face would be all of our looks when presented with all that new info.

  • The Fugitive
  • Coal Miners Daughter
  • Natural Born Killers
  • Under Siege

He's also had some really bad one

  • All the MIB ones
  • The hunted
  • The Texas Longhorn cheerleader movie....sigh.....

King Kong... I guess.  I saw this as a teenager when it came out.  For some reason, I mostly remember Jessica Lange.

Better as?  Han Solo or Indiana Jones?

Both franchises had some stinkers.
