That. Was fucking. NUTS. Wildly frustrated that we couldn’t put more than one in with a man advantage, but my frustration didn’t appear to help them. My wife had a conflict, so I took one of my olde

Couldn’t go to game tonight but watching.  Felt like we conceded up front by benching Stuver and it’s clear Cleveland is awful.  But Ring and Perreira are on one tonight. This has been a lot of fun.

That teen Wolfe yellow was definitely a “I’m so tired and I don’t mind kicking the shit out of this guy moment”.

not one of Wolfes best coaching jobs. Just seems ok to not manage the game and see if we can hang on.

A+ shithousery by Austin FC tonight no matter what the outcome.

Cleveland hasn’t been good but damn that was awesome.

Yeah his distribution. Yikes. But great save on the pk

also bush league ref.

Top 4 win for club behind the two playoff wins and the LAFC beat down imo. Just given the circumstances of two shorthand goals, the PK save, and Pumas is no joke. .

Cleveland was mediocre but we did try to start a “STEEEEAAAAAMMMMEEEERRR” response to good play but it didn’t catch on.

Yeah, one of the best matches we’ve seen. In terms of heart and result, at least.
Wolff’s management of players on yellows is…non-existent. And I sweatergawd, every time I see teen Wolff come on, I get ragey. He’s so hesitant with the ball, and to shoot.
Man of the match was RING. His goal was a veteran’s vision and experience at work. As was his cross to Driussi. And most importantly, what wasn’t as apparent, was him holding them together as captain with 10 men and it getting VERY chippy on the pitch. That was huge. And you know what else it did? It freed Driussi up to PLAY. He played well. Ring should keep the armband. It’s best for the team, and best for Driussi, if he’s mature enough to accept that truth.

Watching second half again with my 6 yo who went to bed at halftime.  That rabona the Pumas forward did that drew the penalty was pretty slick.

Ain’t no way we are keeping Dani. He was so fucking good these last two games. If anyone gets a sniff of Europe, it’s him.

I just got an email from Austin FC that we're playing the first round of the knockout stage at LAFC. Why are we playing on the road if we won our group and LA came in 2nd in theirs?

Well, money.

And is Giraud playing?  Debut him at home.  What a shitty draw given what the team just pulled off.

Because the dumb seeding system is based completely on 2023 results. The only way we get a home match is if we play LA Galaxy (who were worse than us last year but ahead of us this year) or one of the Mexican clubs.

Thanks for the answer. That is completely asinine.

Fantastic way to start the final stretch Hines-Ike…

And he hit the post lol

What is that dogshit foul on Bukari?  The defender had the ball caught up between his legs, that's not a fucking foul, fuck.

Goal Gallagher!

Ring with a beautiful diagonal ball on behind the defense to spring him. Great finish.

It's nice for us to benefit from a defensive blunder for once.  That was great steal though, he probably didn't expect Bukari to be that quick.

That first 15 minutes was a beating to watch.  In addition to giving up a penalty kick in the first couple minutes, Austin handed the ball to Nashville in our initial six or seven possessions.  They calmed it down and played ball after that.  Surprised to see Gally with the start on the wing, but he stepped up and played really well.  Stu was money yet again and, outside of the BHI penalty, the defense was solid. Good to get a win on the first game back in weeks, against a team that we've never beat.  Looking forward to see if the team can keep up this form in the last 3rd of the season against better competition.  Verde!

I think we need 11 pts from 8 games to be safe. Definitely much more plausible than it would have been without the victory in Nashville.

I'll at Saturday's game, after attending the game at DKR.

Including this weekend, each of AFC's last 4 home games are on the same day as a home UT game. Should also be able to make both on 9/28 (3pm UT kick), but still not ideal. First world problem having season tix to both but I don't remember so many conflicts last year.

Edited by LonghornSean

I thought about going to both, but I'd be wiped out after a 2:30 game in August.  Watching the Horns play at a friends and, hopefully, basking in the glow of green lights at Q2.

Yeah... I saw this when the schedules came out.  It's ridiculous.  I get the leagues don't coordinate on anything, but can't McConaughey make a call or two?   The season finale is same night as UGa and Formula 1 Saturday night concert.  Just dumb.

And WTF with that starting lineup on Saturday?  Let's take our most talented player with the ball and put him in a position where he won't ever touch it given you've taken him out of the attacking midfield and he's the only player that could serve it up to himself.  That was ridiculous.  Perhaps they are experimenting how to optimize Bukari, but that wasn't it.

For fucks sake Austin.

Yeah…I went to the UT game. Wife watched the FC match. Just sighed. We need a new coach. It’s hard to muster up the enthusiasm to attend when we’re going backwards. We have our tix for the next three matches. May just see what we can get for them.

I already reupped for next season but I don’t see myself going for the rest of the season, and if Wolff stays I will probably try to dump my seats.

My issue is not losing. Losing is part of sports. My issue is that this team isn’t fun or entertaining or inspiring or even very interesting to watch in any way, and the franchise seems complacent about it.  I guess they got shots off yesterday? That’s an improvement I suppose.

Yeah…we’re sticking with it, re-upped and were happy to do so. But if Wolff is the coach through next season…we’ll have to think hard about whether we renew again, for all the reasons you mention.
We probably will, because they truly can’t stick with Wolff forever. They HAVE to do something to fix this moribund and defeatist style of play.
Right?

My issue is losing.  We do a lot of it.

but I’m dumb, I’ll be at the game tomorrow here in LA

Bukari creating some havoc and setting up Obrian for a goal in the last minute of the first half at LAFC.  Weird game, Obrian playing the 10 I think instead of Driussi and having a pretty good game.

Watched the first 40 minutes live last night before going to bed. Watched the remainder this evening.  Austin played well and fought to earn a point on the road.

@skittlebrau and Moontower Soccer got a shout out from the MLS announcer late in the second half.

Yeah man. I had to rewind it and double check that he actually said my name.

Let's put it this way -- they're so fucking bad, and so uninteresting, that people aren't even bothering to post on this thread anymore.

So, here's a fun rumor:

josh-wolff-future-and-replacement-v0-nri

BTHO of me if there's anything to it.

But we're all in agreement -- the Wolff experiment should be over, correct?   FFS.  He's lost the team.

I've been in the "give Wolff some time" camp.  I'm certainly Wolff Out at this point.

Same.  I knew that he had lost the team last season, but wanted to see if he could pull something together with the new guys.  He could not.

This roster should not be struggling to score goals and get points.

The WolffOut banner chat will always make me think of ShaggyBevo.

I just can't quit this team. Gonna dip out on Texas/Mississippi State to make sure we catch the whole Austin FC match on Saturday. This will be our last one since the Colorado match (which likely won't matter) seems like it's going to conflict with Texas/Georgia.

It's also super dumb that Decision Day comes after the international break. Don't know how the geniuses at MLS couldn't create a schedule that ends the regular season before the break and then has the playoffs start after.
