April 17Apr 17 Maybe my adjectives were off. It’s amazing that they may go three for three. I don’t think there is any doubt about that. It’s just an interesting fact of life in European soccer given the fast rise that a player that was perhaps one of the best in the league a level down can’t see the pitch anymore. A victim of the success of the team in a lot of ways. I just think it would be cool to have some Yanks on the team. I am sure they aren’t going to shoehorn one on that’s not a good fit.
April 18Apr 18 Wrexham tied their match today and Wycombe won so Wrexham has slipped to 3rd place with three games to play.
April 18Apr 18 Last 3 matches and where their opponents are currently in the table Wrexham, @ 10, 4, @ 11 Wycombe; 4, @ 6, 5
April 21Apr 21 The Fighting Deadpools are up 2-nil in the 70th, and equally as important ... Wycombe are down FOUR-NIL (!!!) to Charlton. If the table stands as it is now, 2-3-4 will be within 4 points of each other (Wrexham 86, Wycombe 84, Charlton 82), with Wrexham playing Charlton this Saturday!
April 21Apr 21 Blackpool sneaks one in late, so it's a 2-1 victory... but the GD is EVEN with Wycombe at +28. Charlton is at +25 going into next weekend's match.
April 21Apr 21 GD unlikely to help wrexham now, as a points tie means wycombe has one more win and most likely the GD. But they play Stockport fighting for playoff position, and leyton who are tied for 6th so will have the playoff on the line on the final match day.

Kent seems like a really good dude. https://www.cityam.com/texas-businessman-kent-teague-helped-bring-leyton-orient/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/kent-teague-788b987/ Edited April 21Apr 21 by Jive Turkey

A Welsh guy from my accommodations in Florianopolis, Brazil 🇧🇷 in February of 2009 posted this on Facebook today. And I will be in Wales this summer for a birthday party 🥳 (which could be a front for a pop up wedding due to the original nuptials being cancelled due to COVID in October of 2020)… SO THIS HITS CLOSE TO HOME.
April 25Apr 25 Just noticed that wycombe kicks off 4 hours earlier than wrexham, so they’ll know the result of that match before they hit the pitch. Could be playing knowing a win clinches promotion, or that they have to keep pace.
April 26Apr 26 Also means 2 draws will secure promotion, but go ahead and do it at home with a win. Edited April 26Apr 26 by Pato del Muerto
April 26Apr 26 Leyton Orient needed this result to stay in the hunt for the playoff. Today was a tough matchup for Wycombe.
April 26Apr 26 Wrexham up 1-0! Edit: make that 2-0 in the 18'!! Rob and Ryan are in town Edited April 26Apr 26 by TheBryMan81
April 26Apr 26 After watching Villa sh*t the bed in the FA semi final, this is a perfect palate cleanser.
April 26Apr 26 EPL ‘26-27 also, time to say goodbye to Paul Mullin, super Paul Mullin. Edited April 26Apr 26 by Pato del Muerto
April 26Apr 26 Off topic, but England related. Truro City won the National League South to get promoted to the National League which is a first for any team from Cornwall. Lower leagues are so much fun.

I heard in the post game or maybe read an article that said they know that their payroll will have to triple/quadruple, but their revenue last year was middle of the pack compared to Championship teams so they should be able to offer some increased wages
April 27Apr 27 I’d be interested in the economics of this promotion. As already mentioned, they’ll have to pay more and get championship level players. But their stadium can only hold so many people and the town is only so large.
April 27Apr 27 The Racecourse actually has a higher capacity than The Vitality, and Bournemouth are now an established Premier League club. Wrexham are also well-placed from a sponsorship standpoint as well. Their shirt sponsor is United Airlines, whereas Wycombe had a local paint store. This vid is over a year old, so some of the financials may not be 100% current but still gives a good breakdown. The financial breakdown starts at 4:19. tl;dw: It’s damn hard to get promoted up from the Championship, and it likely will require your owners investing a lot.

Deadpool and Mac bought it 3 years ago for $2.5M. Edited April 27Apr 27 by TonyTexas

April 27Apr 27 That’s a huge jump. Are all clubs expected to be able to transition their budget quickly- or is that an issue with clubs being able to stay up? Wfc os probably better situated to handle it financially than some other small clubs I’d imagine.
April 28Apr 28 Fun to think of the clubs that Wrexham will be a league above next year: Cardiff City Reading (probably) Wigan Bolton One of Hull City/Luton/Preston/Derby/Stoke
April 28Apr 28 Here's what Capology has for the Championship and League One for this year. Championship: League One: Source links for the above: https://www.capology.com/uk/championship/payrolls/ https://www.capology.com/uk/league-one/payrolls/
April 28Apr 28 Wow bham really bought their league title. huddersfield with the poor return as they’ve lost their last 5 matches at least to drop out of promotion contention. Injuries maybe?
April 28Apr 28 i mentioned Kent Teague up above, owner of Leyton Orient. he was on The Kick Around earlier this year and said that, on average, each club in the Championship loses between 20-25 millions pounds per year. his discussion about the finances of being in the Championship starts right before the 35 minute mark. interesting stuff. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/kickaround-395-some-things-are-not-about-the-money/id1022477525?i=1000690500803 Edited April 28Apr 28 by Jive Turkey

That valuation obviously includes the celebrity status of the owners and the TV show. If they sold the team and were no longer personally promoting the team how much the value would fall!?

Impressive. quite a tumble for wycombe who lose their last 3 to end up 5th and won’t get to host at all (unless it’s leyton I guess). Stockport could join wrexham in the championship.
May 6May 6 Hadn’t watched most of the last season of the show, so on Sunday I put on the last episode. Was enjoyable, knowing not only the outcome of that season, but of the following season as well as they ended it with some hey why not go up again stuff. Edited May 6May 6 by Pato del Muerto
May 10May 10 Leyton Orient drew with Stockport this morning 2-2 in the first leg. Second leg at Stockport on Wednesday.
