February 26Feb 26 Wrexham up 2-nil in the 40th minute over Peterborough in the EFL trophy semifinal. Winner plays Birmingham City at Wembley.
February 26Feb 26 Okonkwo made a nice save on a PK that should've seen *at least* a yellow, if not possibly a red card on him for a clumsy takedown, but P'boro pokes it in to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute. Squeaky bum time for the Red Dragons!
February 26Feb 26 Holy crap ... 1st minute of stoppage time and P'boro equalizes. 3 more minutes of stoppage and then straight to PKs.
March 2Mar 2 Hanging around for auto prom. 13 matches to go and if they win them all, they’re in. Since that won’t happen, the back to back against wycombe and Stockport in 2 weeks should be pivotal to that goal.
March 4Mar 4 "What has happened to Paul Mullin?"https://www.goal.com/en/lists/paul-mullin-deadpool-star-efl-trophy-penalty-pain-wrexham-iconic-striker-missing-promotion-push/bltefbfd05c7c8cb8cc#csf45621bd9e100be6
March 4Mar 4 What happened is that he’s 30 and that’s around the time a lot of strikers start to drop off. For every Harry Kane and Mo Salah, there are tons of guys that peak earlier. I also think his injuries haven’t helped either.
March 4Mar 4 This is also the highest level of competition he's faced other than one year with Tranmore in League One (where they were relegated).
March 4Mar 4 That was going to be another point I made. You combine these two and I don't think his struggles look out of place. He was a men among boys in the two lower leageues, this year has been a fight and next year, should they secure promotion - I'm intrigued to see.
March 4Mar 4 Oh, I agree with both of you ... just thought it was a worthwhile admission from the sports media instead of always buttering up Deadpool and Rob.
March 4Mar 4 The Fighting Deadpools pull out a much-needed 3 points (1-nil) away at Huddersfield Town.

March 8Mar 8 SMIFF! (Smith) with the goal three minutes into the second half - 1-nil in the 48th to Wrexham over Rotherham.
March 8Mar 8 All tied in points. GD down to 6. Looks like it will be a photo finish for 2nd, assuming no significant injuries.

March 11Mar 11 oof. and a quick 2nd for Reading really puts a damper on the Deadpools' automatic promotion hopes.
March 11Mar 11 Reading down to 10 men for the last 15 minutes ... is there a chance for the Red Dragons?
March 11Mar 11 Reading being 8th in League One is a joke anyway. That should be a Championship squad and they seem to be playing pretty well as of late.
March 15Mar 15 After an extended stoppage due to a medical emergency in the stands, the Fighting Deadpools get a HUGE three points over Wycombe to (at least for now) take second place.
March 15Mar 15 Here's the current table. Still have work to do. Wycombe have the game in hand and the GD, so they still control their own destiny over Wrexham
March 15Mar 15 Gargantuan win today. Just have to be one point better than them over the final 10. Or find a way to close that gd gap with multigoal wins.
March 15Mar 15 I took a peek at wycombe’s remaining matches and it’s lots of teams trying to get into the promotion tourney spots, and shrewsbury. wrexham have the easier path, after next weekend’s hosting of Stockport. I don’t know where to look, but I wonder what the betting markets are saying for wrexham’s shot at auto promotion now. Edited March 15Mar 15 by Pato del Muerto
March 22Mar 22 Wrexham beat Stockport County today 1-nil. Maybe they got the memo that they need to up their game?
March 29Mar 29 Made up a goal in the diff column today. Both play the bottom two teams on the table on Tuesday so they had better both win, and look for GD opportunities in doing so. Wycombe’s game in hand will be played next Tuesday. Edited March 29Mar 29 by Pato del Muerto
March 30Mar 30 I will be in Wales in late June and then am perhaps going to roam around Britain for a bit, so I may pass through Wrexham. I won’t have a car, and won’t be close, but it would be fun to seen some of the filming locations and cast of The Wrexham Show.

Good to know. I am looking to get a Eurail pass tonight while they are still 15% off and need to figure out if I get a pass for 10 or 15 days over a 2 month period or just buy a full month or 2 month unlimited. The plan is to also visit a bit of Germany and then hopefully some Spain and dip into Portugal and France from there. Big eyes, limited plans for now.

The plan is to also visit a bit of Germany and then hopefully some Spain and dip into Portugal and France from there. Big eyes, limited plans for now. "Dipping into Portugal" by train is extremely challenging and has been since Covid, when both overnight trains from Spain (one from Madrid to Lisboa, the other from Hendaye at the French-Spanish border to Porto) were discontinued by the Spanish rail operator RENFE. You can still travel between the two countries but it takes multiple trains, some of them local services, either from Madrid via Badajoz to Lisboa or from the north via Vigo to Porto (normally requires an overnight in Vigo). Alternatively, there's a bus service (2 hours or so) from the Sevilla train station to Tavira and Faro in the Algarve, where you can connect by rail to the rest of Portugal. All of these are doable and fun if you love trains, but will take a bite out of your rail pass days. You'd probably want the unlimited pass to do that. Unfortunately, there is no longer Wrexham - Portugal direct service either, although one hopes this will change once the Premier League is attained. Edited April 1Apr 1 by flatdawgs

They are 11 clear with 6 to play and 2 games in hand (so really 8 for them). They need 3 wins to clinch the title. 8 points in their magic number: Points they clinch + points Wrexham or Wycombe drop. Edited April 2Apr 2 by Captain Ron
April 5Apr 5 Great, great results for wrexham today. 3-0 win plus wycombe 0-1 loss not only means the points difference grows, but the goal difference shrunk from 5 to 1. I think 6 more points probably does the job, as wycombe would need 4 wins in 6 matches or 3 wins and 3 draws to get even on points at 87 if I’m matching well. Stockport would need 4 wins and a draw to get even in their final 5. Edited April 5Apr 5 by Pato del Muerto
April 5Apr 5 With today's results, Wrexham now control their own destiny. As long as they at least match results with Wycombe and Stockport, then they'll be promoted! For now, the magic number for Wrexham is 12 (or 13 depending on goal differential). A combination of Wrexham points won and Wycombe points dropped... Get to 12-13 and Wrexham is promoted in all likelihood. Stockport technically still within striking distance, but the magic number there is 8-9 depending on goal difference.
April 6Apr 6 Also Wycomne vs Stockport on the last day makes it more likely to get the auto promotion.
April 9Apr 9 Wycombe wins their game in hand today. Wrexham have a 3 point lead with 5 to play and are -2 in gd
April 12Apr 12 Wrexham give up all their extra points with a draw today. Magic number 12 with 12 points left. Have to match wycombe the last 4 matches. they did, I believe, clinch 6th with that point so they will be somewhere in the tourney if they don’t take 2nd. bham clinched the league title. Does Wycombe play this weekend? Edit: never mind, just looked up the table. Wycombe scored at 90+1 to win 1-0. Wrexham now up a point, -3 on the GD compared to Wycombe. April 16Apr 16 This is pretty amazing. What’s wild is they could decide to move on from Paul Mullen if they get promoted. If they get promoted, they need to get some Americans on the team next year. Sargent, Haji, CCV types.

If they get promoted, they need to get some Americans on the team next year. Sargent, Haji, CCV types. I might ask how that would be amazing. That would just be: 1. Paul Mullin is 30 years old. He will turn 31 November of next season. Strikers notoriously start dropping off at age 28. His drop off isn’t surprising. I mentioned a few pages back. That doesn’t even consider that he’s never played at this level or higher where he’s potentially facing younger better opponents. He needs to find his form, but frankly, if they could sell him to a lower team/league, that would be the best way to go. Unless he’s willing to give them another hometown deal. 2. That’s just the nature of Soccer. Teams keep you when you’re useful. Get rid of you and you’re not. Sucks for Mullen. Everyone loves him, but if he’s not producing he, he’s not worth his paycheck. 3. I don’t think they should get Americans, they need to get the talent that fits what they want to do to win. If that’s American player so be it, but if it’s not then get the best that they can afford. 4. Finally realize should they get promoted next season their goal should be to do nothing but hold Pat. Making the championship with promotions and three successive seasons would be impressive feet. Holding onto that spot even more impressive.
