I wish PTA was doing it because the man understands that era. Fincher feels like a weird fit. Hope it works. I’ll watch regardless.
August 7Aug 7 ahh, i had forgotten that was happening with the booth folow-up, but i thought pitt was also involved in the movie critic one, but i just read qt shelved it. so who the fuck knows.

He changes his mind all the time. Still waiting for that Star Trek movie for instance. I think he’ll still stick to his retirement plan though. One of his few consistencies.
October 7Oct 7 Green-lit. Amazon instead of WB https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/heat-2-is-on-michael-mann-crime-thriller-1236392878/

You want some deep pockets that will let Mann do his thing and not penny pinch like WB? Then it's him or Netflix. Michael Mann cannot be enshitffied unless he does it himself.

A few things stand out: * He's only starred in 4 movies in the decade since he won his Oscar (Revenant, Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood, Don't Look Up, and Killer's of the Flower Moon). He's starring in Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' that you can bet will garner all kinds of Oscar attention later this year. * His "in production" roles he's listed as playing include Jim Jones, Evel Knievel, Frank Sinatra and Teddy Roosevelt. And as crazy and diverse as that list is I can honestly look at it and say "yep, he could pull that off." Cruise and Leo are about the only two names that open up every production company's checkbook. If Leo says "yeah, I really want to star in Heat 2" it will get made. Leo as Teddy? I'm fucking in already.

October 9Oct 9 The Watch guys are Heat obsessives, so they’ve been following this very closely. Basically, they think the whole thing hinges on Leo signing up to play Chris.
October 18Oct 18 Sounds like nothing is being cut from the story. I'd assume he left off Mexico as a shooting location on accident since it factors into Chris' story and the big portion with Neal. I figured some of the Chris story would get cut.

So both the Heat sequel and prequel. If you’ve read the book, this is extremely ambitious. I hope they can pull it off.

November 17Nov 17 I hadn't seen this thread, but finished the book earlier this year. It was a good read. While reading, I kept thinking that it reads like a movie, so I have hope it could turn out well...especially if some of the actors mentioned above are in.
