Nolan Ryan documentary that I just heard of last night and rented and watched it on the spot.  Rented on Prime, assume you can rent/buy it elsewhere.  I'm not a baseball guy at all now but I was a huge Astros fan in the early to mid 80s as a kid growing up.  This movie is great.  A little pre-baseball and family stuff bookend the movie but it mostly just follows his career and has cuts from lots of former teammates, coaches and opponents.  If you were ever a fan of his or a team he played for I think you'd enjoy it and find it worth both your time and money.

I helped Nolan's future daughter-in-law pass Oceanography.  It was a Tue/Thu class, and she'd always miss Thursday's because she'd be hanging out at Nolan's ranch with her boyfriend (Reed?).  She was super hot, so I had no problem taking copious notes during Thursday lectures.  /csb

Randy Johnson sounds like Bill Walton.

Both went to college in LA and are very tall.

When I was about 10, Nolan was signing autographs at a local indoor mall.  I rode my bike and got there early.  I was the first one in line, at the big table at the main entrance to the mall.  In walks Nolan, his wife, and his daughter.  They look around at the mall, the wife says something, Nolan pulls out his wallet and passes her some cash, she and the daughter walk towards "The Broadway", and Nolan heads over to the autograph table to sign my Angels hat.  No PR guys, no lackeys, nobody at all.

Undefeated.

Allison Schlegel married Reese. And she’s a major babe. Anyone who points this thread in another direction can eat a dick.

What about pointing this thread towards a thread that was already made.

Granted I understand what I'm dealing with.

Hey - an aggy TCU grad who is comfortable with displaying his insecurity about where he went to school. What is that - two SMU cracks in the last week? You doing okay, sport?

Derka's twice the man and twice the Texan that you are.

Nah, Texas grad. You’re a decent poster, but like most SMU grads you’re gayer than a pink wall.

You’re old, AND shitty.

  • 1 month later...

Just watched it. Really good.

I’m watching it now and It’s at the point where he throws his 7th no hitter at age 44.  We were in Dallas at market that year, that Sunday or Monday I’m like dad get tickets for Nolan’s game!  Game was Wednesday, he’s like Rangers baseball games don’t sell out...  Drive to the stadium and the parking attendant tells us it’s sold out.  I was one upset kid for a few days.
